New Zealand International Exhibition, 1906. — Minerals Court.

Mines Department,
Wellington, 30th July, 1906.

A GOLD medal and fifty guineas, a silver medal and twenty-five guineas, and a bronze medal and ten guineas will be awarded by the Mines Department for essays on the present condition and future prospects of the mineral resources of New Zealand, and the best means of fostering their development.

In judging the merits of the essays preference will be given to those which are of a practical character.

The essays must be sent in to the Under-Secretary for Mines, Wellington, signed with a motto, and accompanied by a sealed envelope containing the author’s name and address, on or before 1st December, 1906.

The essays will be submitted to a Board of three persons (to be hereafter appointed), on whose decision the above prizes will be awarded.

NOTE.—“Mineral” means any metal or mineral, and includes petroleum and other mineral oils.

Notifying Land in the Auckland Land District subject to “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900.”

PURSUANT to the provisions of “The Land for Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and its amendments, I hereby notify that the undermentioned Crown land, being the land known as the Teasdale Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Acts, is subject to the said Acts.


SCHEDULE.

TEASDALE SETTLEMENT.

ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, situate in the Mangapiko Parish, Waipa County, containing by admeasurement 179 acres 2 roods 5 perches, more or less. Bounded towards the north generally by the Mangapiko and Mangaoi Rivers; towards the south-east by the road which passes through the Village of Te Awamutu, 1620 links and 730 links, and by another road on the boundary of Section 236, 142 links and 3840 links; and again towards the south-west by a road, 1796 links; and towards the north-west by a road-line, 2320 links and 1100 links, to the Mangapiko River, the starting-point: as the same is more particularly delineated upon the plan marked L. & S. 19345, deposited in the Head Office of the Lands and Survey Department, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged with red.
