HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve, under “The Defence Act, 1886,” “The Defence Act Amendment Act, 1900,” and regulations thereunder, of the appointment of
Lieutenant-Colonel ARTHUR BAUCHOP, C.M.G., New Zealand Militia, Officer Commanding Canterbury Military District;
Major CHARLES JAMES COOPER, Canterbury Divisional Staff, New Zealand Garrison Artillery Volunteers;
Captain WILLIAM PATRICK WALL, Royal New Zealand Artillery, Commanding Lyttelton Detachment, Permanent Force; and
Captain CHARLES GEORGE FOSTER, No. 5 Company, New Zealand Garrison Artillery Volunteers,
as Trustees of the Lyttelton Rifle Range Reserves, being Reserve No. 276, containing 10 acres, more or less, situate in the Borough of Lyttelton, Canterbury Land District. Bounded on the north by the ridge running down from Mount Pleasant; on the west by Section No. 1963; on the east by Reserve No. 205; and on the south by Section No. 258. Also part of Rural Section No. 258, situate in the Borough of Lyttelton, Canterbury Land District, containing 15 acres, more or less. Commencing at the south-east angle of the section, and following along the southern boundary of the same, 6 chains 8 links; thence in a straight line in a northerly direction, 20 chains 2 links, to a point on the northern boundary of the said section; thence easterly along that boundary, 10 chains 70 links, to the north-east angle thereof; thence along the eastern boundary thereof, 6 chains 25 links, to the Sumner Road, and returning along that road to the commencing-point.

Special Order made by the Council of the County of Wairarapa South.

THE following special order, made by the Wairarapa South County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL.
Special Order striking Special Rate.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Wairarapa South County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £150, authorised to be raised by the Wairarapa South County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for reducing the grade of a cutting on the Kokotau Road, in the Parkvale Riding of the Wairarapa South County, and also for the payment of any preliminary expenses incurred in connection with the scheme for which the loan is to be raised, hereby makes and levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Kokotau Hill Regrading Special-rating District, comprising Sections 1/5 (Opuakiao), Sections 342 and 346 inclusive, and Sections 296, all in Block XV, Tiffin Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of July and the 1st day of January in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. Interest on the said loan to be at the rate of 4 per centum per annum.
I certify that the foregoing special order was adopted by the Wairarapa South County Council at a properly convened special meeting held the 28th day of July, 1906, and duly confirmed at a subsequent meeting held the 28th day of August, 1906.

THE following special order, made by the Cook County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.
SPECIAL ORDER made on the 15th day of December, 1905; confirmed on the 19th day of January, 1906:—
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Cook County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £300, authorised to be raised by the Cook County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for forming and metalling Harper’s or College Road, the said Cook County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ¾d. in the pound on the rateable value of all rateable property of the College Road Loan District, comprising Lot 7 of Whataupoko 8; part of Whataupoko 8 (49 acres and 32 perches); Lot 5, Whataupoko 8; Lot 4, Whataupoko 8; part 33, Makauri (14 acres and 2 perches); Lot 43, Mission Estate, Waerengaahika (28 acres); Lot 1, Whataupoko 8; part 33, Makauri (43 acres 2 roods): and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of July in each and every year during a period equal to the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The rate of interest to be 5 per cent.
