Bounded towards the north-east by Exmouth Street, 160·6 links; towards the south-east by part of Section No. 6 of the said Block XXXI, 213 links; and towards the south-west by Section No. 7, 266·8 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 52411/8, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For railway purposes.

All that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 roods 36 perches, more or less, being Sections Nos. 2, 3, 4, and 5, Block XXXII, Town of Kaitangata. Bounded towards the north-east by Section No. 1 of the said Block XXXII, 200 links; towards the south-east by Eddystone Street, 375 links; towards the south-west by Berry Street, 240 links; towards the west by Water Street, 269 links; again towards the north-east by Sections Nos. 7 and 6 of the said Block XXXII, 141 links; and towards the north-west by part of Section No. 6, 125 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 52411/8, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. For railway purposes.

Allowing Carriages and Rolling-stock up to 7ft. 9in. in Width to be used on the Roslyn Cable Tramway Extension.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by section two hundred and nineteen of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” it is enacted that, notwithstanding anything in any Act, the Governor may allow carriages and rolling-stock up to eight feet in width to be used on any tramway in cases where he is satisfied that they may be safely and conveniently used without danger to the public: And whereas application has been made by the general manager of the Dunedin-Roslyn Tramway Company (Limited) for permission to use carriages and rolling-stock up to seven feet nine inches in width on the Roslyn Cable Tramway Extension:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby allow carriages and rolling-stock up to seven feet nine inches in width to be used, on and after the date hereof, on the said tramway constructed under and by virtue of the provisions of an Order in Council dated the sixth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and six.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and six.

Volunteer Regulations amended.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by “The Defence Act, 1886,” and “The Defence Act Amendment Act, 1900,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby amend in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule hereto such of the General Regulations of the Defence Force of New Zealand, made on the eighth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and six, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the same date, as are set forth in the said Schedule. And I do hereby declare that such amended regulations shall come into force on the eighteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and six.

SCHEDULE.

DEFENCE RIFLE CLUBS.

REGULATION 531.—After word “who,” on second line, add “is in possession of a rifle of approved Government pattern, and.”

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by “The Defence Act, 1886,” and “The Defence Act Amendment Act, 1900,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby amend in the manner and to the extent set forth in the Schedule hereto such of the General Regulations of the Defence Force of New Zealand, made on the eighth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and six, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the same date, as are set forth in the said Schedule. And I do hereby declare that such amended regulations shall come into force on the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and six.

SCHEDULE.

OFFICERS OF DEFENCE FORCES.

REGULATION 62.—Add: “The period for which an officer may hold the command of a regiment, division, or battalion shall be limited to five years, with an extension of one year when specially recommended: Provided that for officers already holding such appointments the period shall be three years from the date of this regulation, with an extension up to two years when specially recommended.”

DEFINITIONS.

Regulation 1.

Line 2: Before “troop” insert “squadron.”
Line 31: For “Mounted Rifles, a battalion” substitute “Mounted Rifles, a regiment.”

ESTABLISHMENT.

Regulation 3, (d), Mounted Rifles.

For “company” in each place substitute “squadron,” and for “companies” substitute “squadrons.”
For “battalion” or “battalions,” where a noun, substitute “regiment” or “regiments.”
For “battalion,” where an adjective, substitute “regimental.”
Throughout the regulations the words “company” or “battalion,” when applying to Mounted Rifles, are to be read “squadron” or “regiment.”
