UNDER “THE MINING ACT, 1898.”

APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR A WATER-RACE.

To the Warden of the Otago Mining District, at St. Bathan’s.

Pursuant to “The Mining Act, 1898,” the undersigned, James Clouston, of Beck’s, Farmer, hereby applies for a license for a water-race as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Date and number of miner’s right: 4th July, 1906; No. 55966.

Address for service: Care of Mr. James R. Kirk, Solicitor, Naseby.

Dated at Naseby, this 3rd day of July, 1906.

SCHEDULE.

Locality of the race and of its starting and terminal points: Commencing in Beck’s Creek, in Section 13, Block V, Blackstone District, held under yearly license by Tonkin and Co., at a point about 2 chains below boundary-fence between Sections 12 and 13, same block, traversing said Section 13, and terminating in Section 4, same block; occupied by applicant; pegs marked “C,” and trenches cut.

Length and intended course of race: One mile; south-westerly.

Points of intake: Commencing-point in Beck’s Creek.

Estimated time and cost of construction: One month; £15.

Mean depth and breadth: 9 in., 18 in.

Number of heads to be diverted: Two heads.

Purpose for which water is to be used: Irrigation and watering stock.

Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.

In the matter of “The Companies Act, 1903”; and in the matter of the Ophir Mining Company (Limited).

At an extraordinary general meeting of the members of the above-named company, duly convened, and held at Dunedin on Monday, the 11th day of June, 1906, the following special resolutions were duly passed; and at a subsequent general meeting of the members of the said company, also duly convened, and held at the same place on the 28th day of June, 1906, the said resolutions were duly confirmed, viz.:

  1. That it is expedient to effect an amalgamation of this company with the Shotover Quartz-mining Company (No Liability).

  2. That the Ophir Mining Company (Limited) be wound up voluntarily, and that James Newburgh Lawson, of Dunedin, be and he is hereby appointed Liquidator for the purposes of such winding-up.

  3. That the said Liquidator be and he is hereby authorised to consent to the registration of a new company, to be named the Shotover Consolidated Mining Company (Limited), with a memorandum and articles of association which have been already prepared with the privity and approval of the directors of this company.

  4. That the draft agreement expressed to be made between the Liquidator of the Shotover Quartz-mining Company (No Liability) of the first part, the Shotover Quartz-mining Company (No Liability) of the second part, the Liquidator of the Ophir Mining Company (Limited) of the third part, the Ophir Mining Company (Limited) of the fourth part, and the Shotover Consolidated Mining Company (Limited) of the fifth part, be and the same is hereby approved; and that the said Liquidator be and he is hereby directed to enter into an agreement on behalf of this company on the terms of the draft, and to carry the same into effect.

LAND TRANSFER ACT NOTICES.

Evidence of the loss of certificate of title, Vol. 55, folio 144, in favour of JOSEPH HENRY, for Allotment 195, Parish of Te Puna, having been lodged with me, and application made to issue a provisional certificate of title, and also to register a transmission of such land to KATHLEEN HENRY, of Wellington, Spinster: notice is hereby given of my intention to issue a provisional certificate of title and to register the transmission accordingly at the expiration of fourteen days from the date of the Gazette containing this notice.
