THE following special order, made by the Moa Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

MOA ROAD BOARD.
By-law of the Body Corporate under the Name of “The Inhabitants of the Moa Road District,” made and enacted by the Moa Road Board.
In pursuance of the powers vested in it by “The Road Boards Act, 1882,” and its amendments, and by “The Public Works Act, 1905,” and by all or any other statutes it hereunto enabling, the Road Board of the Moa Road District doth hereby (by special order) make and enact the following by-law, to come into operation on the gazetting thereof, namely:—
Interpretation.
(1.) This by-law may be recited or referred to as “The Moa Road Board By-law, 1906,” and shall be read in conjunction with “The Moa Road By-law No. 1, 1902,” and shall apply to all district roads under the care, control, or management of the Moa Road Board.
(2.) “District road” means any road or bridge under the care, control, or management of the Moa Road Board. “Heavy traffic,” in addition to the meaning given to it by “The Moa Road By-law No. 1, 1902,” is declared to mean “the traction of any vehicle or thing by means of bullocks, notwithstanding that such vehicle or thing may separately or together with any load thereon weigh less than one and a half tons avoirdu pois.”
General Provision.
(3.) “Heavy traffic” of all kinds, including “heavy traffic” as defined in the foregoing clause hereof, shall cease during the months of May, June, July, August, and September in each year upon all district roads.
(4.) Every person guilty of an offence against or committing a breach or failing to perform any duty imposed upon him by any provision of the by-law shall be liable upon conviction for each such offence, breach, or failure to such penalty not exceeding five pounds (£5) as the Court inflicting the same shall in its discretion think fit, which penalty shall be recoverable in a summary way.
The common seal of the Inhabitants of the Moa Road District was affixed to the foregoing by-law, this 20th day of June, 1906.
