Notice fixing Closing-hours of Tobacconists’ Shops in the City
of Wellington under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a
majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists’
shops in the City of Wellington, has been forwarded to me,
desiring that all such shops in the city shall be closed
at 8 o’clock p.m. every day, except on Wednesdays and
Saturdays, when the hour shall be at 1 o’clock p.m. on
Wednesdays (the weekly half-holiday) and at 10.30 p.m. on
Saturdays, and except on the night before all statutory
holidays, when the hour of closing shall be 10 p.m.: And
whereas the Wellington City Council has certified that the
signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the
occupiers of all the tobacconists’ shops in the city:

Now, therefore, I, Richard John Seddon, the Minister of
Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of “The Shops and
Offices Act, 1904,” and section 5 of “The Shops and Offices
Act Amendment Act, 1905,” do hereby direct that from and
after the 14th day of May, 1906, all tobacconists’ shops in
the City of Wellington shall be closed in accordance with
such requisition.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Hairdressers’ Shops in the City
of Wellington under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a
majority of the occupiers of all the hairdressers’
shops in the City of Wellington, has been forwarded to me,
desiring that all such shops in the city shall be closed at
8 o’clock p.m. every day, except on Wednesdays and Satur-
days, when the hours shall be at 1 o’clock on Wednesdays
(the weekly half-holiday) and at 10.30 p.m. on Saturdays, and
except on the night before all statutory holidays, when the
hour of closing will be 10 p.m.: And whereas the Wellington
City Council has certified that the signatures to such
requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the
hairdressers’ shops in the city:

Now, therefore, I, Richard John Seddon, the Minister of
Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of “The Shops and
Offices Act, 1904,” and section 5 of “The Shops and Offices
Act Amendment Act, 1905,” do hereby direct that from and

Notice fixing Closing-hours of certain Shops in the County
of Ohinemuri under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a
majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the
County of Ohinemuri, has been forwarded to me, desiring
that all shops in the county, except those mentioned in
the Schedule to “The Shops and Offices Act Amendment
Act, 1905,” shall be closed at 6 o’clock p.m. on four days in
the week, at 10 p.m. on Saturdays, and at 1 p.m. on the
statutory half-holiday: And whereas the County Council
of Ohinemuri has certified that the signatures to such
requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the
shops in the county:

Now, therefore, I, Richard John Seddon, the Minister of
Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of “The Shops and
Offices Act, 1904,” and section 5 of “The Shops and Offices
Act Amendment Act, 1905,” do hereby direct that from and
after the 1st day of June, 1906, all the shops in the County
of Ohinemuri, except those mentioned in the Schedule
referred to, shall be closed in accordance with such requisi-
tion.

The shops mentioned in the Schedule to the Act re-
ferred to are as follows: Bakers, butchers, chemists,
confectioners, dairy-produce sellers, fishmongers, florists,
fruiterers, hairdressers, newsagents, pork-butchers, refresh-
ment-room keepers, and tobacconists.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of certain Shops in the Borough
of Carterton under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a
majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each
of the following trades in the Borough of Carterton, has
been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the
borough shall be closed at 6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays,
Wednesdays, and Fridays, at 1 p.m. on Thursdays (the
statutory half-holiday), and at 9 p.m. on Saturdays: And
whereas the Borough Council of Carterton has certified that
the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of
the occupiers of all the shops in each of the trades men-
tioned in the borough:

Now, therefore, I, James McGowan, acting for and on
behalf of the Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 21
of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904,” and section 5 of
“The Shops and Offices Act Amendment Act, 1905,” do
hereby direct that from and after the 1st day of June, 1906,
all the shops mentioned below in the Borough of Carterton
shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

Varied Notice fixing Closing-hours of Shops in the Borough
of Temuka.

WHEREAS by notice dated the 13th day of February,
1905, and gazetted on the 16th day of February, 1905,
the Minister of Labour, in exercise of the powers in that
behalf conferred upon him by section 21 of “The Shops and
Offices Act, 1904,” and acting in accordance with a
requisition duly made and certified as required by that
section, did direct that from and after the 1st day of March,
1905, all shops in the Borough of Temuka should be closed
at 6 o’clock in the evening on four working-days of the
week—viz., Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
—and at 9 o’clock in the evening on Saturdays: And
whereas by a like requisition, duly made and certified as
aforesaid, he has been requested to vary the said notice by
fixing 10 o’clock p.m. as the hour for closing on Saturdays,
instead of 9 o’clock:

Now, therefore, in compliance with the last-mentioned re-
quisition, and in exercise of the powers conferred by the
above-mentioned section, I do hereby vary the said notice
by directing that on and after the 1st day of June, 1906,
the hour for closing on Saturdays shall be 10 o’clock
accordingly.
