Proposed vesting of Petone Beach in the Petone Borough Council.

IT is hereby notified for general information that two months after the date hereof His Excellency the Governor will be advised, in pursuance of section 7 of “The Petone and Hutt Corporations Empowering Act, 1905,” to vest in the Petone Borough Council for the purposes of the said Act that part of the land lying between high-water mark and the southern boundary of the Esplanade Road in the Borough of Petone, and bounded on the west by the Korokoro Stream, and on the east by the eastern boundary-line of the said Borough of Petone, and which is more particularly described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District known as Petone Beach, situated in the Borough of Petone, as the said borough is described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 38, 5th July, 1888, bounded towards the north-east generally by the Esplanade Road from the Korokoro Stream to the eastern boundary-line of the Borough of Petone; thence towards the east by the said eastern boundary-line of the Borough of Petone to high-water mark of Port Nicholson; thence towards the south-west by high-water mark to the mouth of the Korokoro Stream; and thence towards the west by the said Korokoro Stream to the place of commencement.

Date fixed for holding First Election, Taumarunui Native Township.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Tuesday, the 15th day of May, 1906, to be the day for holding the first election of four members of the Council of the Taumarunui Native Township, as constituted under “The Native and Maori Land Laws Amendment Act, 1902,” and “The Native Townships Local Government Act, 1905.”

AWATERE ROAD BOARD.

Copy of a resolution passed by the Awatere Road Board on the 4th December, 1905:—

Resolution.—That a special order be now made declaring the plants winged thistle (Carduus pyenocephalus) and wild boragio (Echium violaceum) to be noxious weeds within the meaning of “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900,” in the Awatere Road Board District.

I hereby certify that the above special order was made in accordance with section 75 of “The Road Boards Act, 1882.”

WINTON BOROUGH.

Wards abolished and Number of Councillors reduced.

THE following resolution which was duly carried at a special meeting held on the 9th March, 1906, was confirmed as a special order at a meeting held in the Council Chambers, Wemyss and Meldrum Streets, at half past 7 o’clock on Friday evening, the 6th April, 1906, and will in terms thereof come into force on the 1st March, 1907, as a special order: That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” the Winton Borough Council hereby resolve and ordain by special order that as from the 1st March, 1907, the wards in the borough be abolished so as to make but one district for all municipal elections; and that the number of Councillors be reduced from eight to six.

THE following special order, made by the Pahiatua County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

PAHIATUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order striking Special Rate.—Loan No. 72.

THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Pahiatua County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £250, authorised to be raised by the Pahiatua County Council, under the provisions of the above-named Act, for the purpose of erecting a light-traffic bridge over the Mangatainoka River on the Pukewhai Road (in conjunction with a Government grant), the said Pahiatua County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 3d. in the pound on the (unimproved) rateable value of all lands in the Pukewhai Bridge Special-rating District—viz., Sections 67, 68, 79, 80, part 81, part 101 (50 acres), Section 110, part 111, Sections 106 and 107, Block XIV, and Section 74, Block XIII, all in the Mangahao Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, at 4 per cent. per annum, or until the loan is fully paid off.

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the Pahiatua County Council on the 3rd day of February, 1906, and confirmed at a meeting of the said Council on the 7th day of April, 1906.
