possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and shall make inquiries respecting the same and report to the Governor, and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown, private, or Native lands, in their opinion should be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves; and that the Governor may from time to time, by Proclamation, declare that any lands so recommended to be reserved shall be a reserve under the said Act, and thereupon such lands shall be inalienable unless by special Act of Parliament passed in that behalf, and no person shall cut or remove timber or in any way interfere with such lands, or damage the scenic features thereof; and such lands may be fenced, preserved, and conserved intact as and for an inalienable patrimony of the people of New Zealand:
And whereas the Governor has, in pursuance of the powers conferred by the said Act, appointed certain persons to be a Commission for the purposes thereof: And whereas the said Commission has, after making inquiries respecting the same, reported to the Governor and recommended that the areas of Crown lands described in the Schedule hereto should be permanently reserved as scenic reserves: And whereas it is expedient that the said recommendation should be given effect to:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities aforesaid, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the areas of Crown lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be reserves under the said Act.

SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 18 acres, more or less, being Section No. 46, Block VII, Oteramika Hundred. Bounded towards the north by a public road; towards the east generally by the right bank of the Mataura River; towards the south by Section No. 51, Block IX, Oteramika Hundred; and towards the west by a public road.
All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 26 acres, more or less, being Section No. 51, Block IX, Oteramika Hundred. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 46, Block VII, Oteramika Hundred; towards the east generally by the right bank of the Mataura River; towards the south by railway land; and towards the west by a public road.
All that area in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 34 acres, more or less, being Section No. 52, Block IX, Oteramika Hundred. Bounded towards the north by railway land; towards the east generally and towards the south by the right bank of the Mataura River; and towards the west by a reserve along the said bank of the said Mataura River and by a public road.
As the same are delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 53956/15, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this fifth day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and six.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1903” (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may from time to time appoint such suitable persons, not exceeding five, as he thinks fit to be a Commission under the said Act; such Commission may, if it deems necessary, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and shall make inquiries respecting the same

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 8 acres 3 roods 32 perches, more or less, being Section No. 36 (formerly part of Original Section No. 2), Block XI, Wairarapa Survey District. Bounded by a line commencing at a point (the said point being distant 646·4 links in a north westerly direction, bearing N. 79° 52′ 30″ W., from a peg marked 1, shown on the plan hereinafter referred to), and proceeding thence in a north-westerly direction, bearing N. 87° 49′ W., a distance of 803·2 links; thence along a line in a north-westerly direction, bearing N. 59° 41′ 30″ W., a distance of 630·6 links; thence along a line in a north-easterly direction, bearing N. 21° 18′ E., a distance of 580·3 links; thence along a line in a north-easterly direction, bearing N. 76° 04′ 30″ E., a distance of 298·8 links; thence along a line in a south-easterly direction, bearing S. 64° 44′ 30″ E., a distance of 473·6 links; thence along a line in a south-easterly direction, bearing S. 50° 18′ E., a distance of 533·4 links; and thence along a line in a south-easterly direction, bearing S. 1° 1′ 30″ E., a distance of 418·7 links to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less; as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 52315/43, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered green.
