PUBLIC NOTICE.
Borough of Waimate.
Waimate Waterworks.
In the matter of "The Public Works Act, 1905," and of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900."
NOTICE is hereby given, pursuant to "The Public Works Act, 1905," that it is proposed by the Council of the Borough of Waimate to execute certain works—viz., to construct waterworks for the supply of pure water for the use of the inhabitants of the Borough of Waimate, and for the supply of such persons outside the said borough as the said Council may from time to time determine—being a local work a general description whereof is set forth in the first part of the Schedule hereto; and to take the lands described in the second part of the Schedule hereto, such lands being required for the purposes of executing the said works; and to take the water necessary for the said local work from the stream known as the Waimate Stream in manner set forth in the said general description of the said work, pursuant to the powers contained in the Acts above mentioned or referred to. And it is hereby notified that a survey has been made, and a plan has been prepared showing the lands required to be taken for the said local work, together with the names of the owners and occupiers of such lands so far as they can be ascertained, and also a plan showing the stream from which such water as aforesaid is required to be taken, together with the names of the owners and occupiers of land fronting on such stream below the part thereof from which the said water is to be taken so far as they can be ascertained; and that a copy of the said survey and plans have, by direction of the said Council (the said lands not being within a road district), been deposited at the Waimate Borough Council Chambers, Queen Street, Waimate, and are there open for inspection by all persons at all reasonable hours.
And notice is hereby given that all persons affected are hereby called upon to set forth in writing any well-grounded objections to the execution of such works, or to the taking of such lands or the water from the said stream, and to send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the local authority, being the Council of the Borough of Waimate.

THE SCHEDULE REFERRED TO.
FIRST PART.
General Description of Proposed Waterworks, as required by Section 18 of "The Public Works Act, 1905."
It is proposed to erect a concrete dam across the Waimate Stream at a point about 8 chains down the stream in a south-easterly direction from the south-western corner of Rural Section 32424, and at this point to tap the stream by 6 in. cast-iron pipes laid at a proper grade to convey the water through part of Rural Section 15659, the property of A. J. White, Esq.; thence by pipes through part of Rural Section 15412, the property of H. E. McGowan, Esq., to the main bush county road near the north-eastern corner of Rural Section 15929; thence by pipes in a south-easterly direction along said road running through Rural Sections 10332, 9821, 5743, 5705, 3851, 2988, 2987, 2986, 2985, 2984, 2983, 2982, to a concrete storage reservoir to be erected adjoining the road on the east side of said Rural Section 2982, the property of the executors of the late A. Hayes. From the dam-site to the reservoir-site the water will be brought all the way under pressure.
The outlet-pipe will be taken from the storage-reservoir at the most southerly point of reservoir-section, adjoining main bush road; thence along said road through Rural Sections 2981, 280; thence along said road running between Rural Sections 1878, 1877, 1876, 1872, 1871, 1870, 1869, 1868, and Reserve No. 144; thence along said road-line through Rural Sections 4316, 4313, 4312, and 4310 up to the borough-boundary. All the above pipes will be laid in trenches and be under pressure.
The whole of the works through the above-mentioned sections are in Blocks IX, X, XIII, and XIV, Waimate Survey District.
All pipes will be laid so that there is at least 24in. of cover over them.

In the matter of W. A. Ryan and Co. (Limited).
NOTICE is hereby given that an Order of the Supreme Court of New Zealand dated the tenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and six, confirming the reduction of the capital of the above mentioned company from £30,000 to £27,000, together with the minute approved by the said Supreme Court, was registered by the Registrar of Companies at Auckland on the twenty-eighth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and six.
