Section 11 somewhat broken at north and south ends, but there is a considerable area of flat land in the middle; all covered with mixed forest, comprising rata, rimu, tawa, towai, rewarewa, hinau, taraire, with fairly heavy undergrowth; soil of good quality, resting on limestone and sandstone formation; well watered. Section 12, half undulating and half broken; Section 13 all broken land, except some small flats in middle of section. Both sections are covered with mixed forest, comprising rata, rimu, towai, tawa, hinau, kohekohe, and miro, with heavy undergrowth; soil of good quality, resting on limestone and sandstone formation; well watered. Distant from twenty-one to twenty-three miles from Kaihu Railway-station by formed road. Section 14, very broken land, covered with heavy mixed forest, comprising rata, rimu, towai, tawa, mahoe, and miro, with heavy undergrowth; soil of fairly good quality, resting on sandstone formation; well watered. Access from Kaihu Railway-station, twenty miles by formed road.

Situated about twenty-six miles from Kaihu Railway-station by formed road.

Access from Kaihu Railway-station, from twenty to twenty-one miles by formed road.

Altitude, from 800 ft. to 1,400 ft. above sea-level. Sections 3, 4, and 5 partly broken land, part level or undulating land in each section; covered with heavy mixed forest through which a fire passed four or five years ago, but the young bush has grown again; soil of good quality, on limestone and sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Sections 6 and 7 mostly undulating, but portions very broken and stony, covered with very heavy mixed forest; soil of good quality, resting on limestone and sandstone formation; Section 6 fairly watered, Section 7 well watered. Sections 8 and 9 good agricultural land, level and undulating, covered with heavy mixed forest; soil of very good quality, resting on limestone and sandstone formation; well watered. The forest comprises rimu, rata, tawa, miro, towai, mahoe, matai, with scattered totara on Sections 5, 8, and 9. The sections are situated from twenty-two to twenty-five miles from Kaihu Railway-station—by formed road twenty-one miles, and balance by surveyed and graded road not yet formed.

Altitude, from 600 ft. to 1,300 ft. above sea-level. About one-half of Section 4 is undulating country, balance, with Sections 1 and 7, are broken; covered with dense forest, comprising taraire, tawa, rata, miro, and matai, with some scattered kauri, totara, and rimu on Section 1, and a little rimu and totara on Section 4; clay soil, of fairly good quality; well watered. Section 1 is about twenty-two miles from Kaihu, about twenty miles from Kaikohe, and about eighteen miles from Taheke; Section 4 is distant twenty-two miles from Kaihu, and Section 7 is about eighteen miles from Kaikohe—the access in all cases being by partly formed road.

Altitude, from 300 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. All covered with heavy forest, comprising kahikatea, rimu, rata, kohekohe, miro, tawa, taraire, pukatea, mako, matai, and some totara; moderate to heavy undergrowth of toitoi, kiekie, and shrubs. Section 6, about two-thirds high undulating country, balance broken; soil of good quality, resting on limestone and sandstone formation. Section 7 consists of a spur between two streams, with small flats along each stream and flats on the top of the spur; half of the section ploughable; soil of good quality, resting on limestone formation. Section 8, broken along north boundary, but the southern part is a river-flat; forest on this section is not so heavy as on others; soil of very good quality, resting on limestone and sandstone formation. Section 9, broken at north end, but a large part of the section is good river-flats; soil of good quality, resting on limestone and sandstone formation. All sections are well watered, and situated from twenty-one to twenty-three miles from Kaihu Railway-station, twenty miles being formed road.

About one-half Section 1, two-thirds Section 2, and a considerable part of each of the other sections is river-flat and low spurs; balance broken; soil of uniformly good quality, resting on limestone and sandstone formation; well watered. Situated about twenty-two miles from Kaihu Railway-station, twenty miles being formed road. Section 6 is weighted with £61, valuation for 81,300 superficial feet of kauri timber.
