Time for Preparation of Roll under Gold Duty Abolition and Mining Property Rating Act extended, Westland County.

PLUNKET, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of March, 1906.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE R. J. SEDDON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS, the County Council of the Westland County having failed, through misadventure, to prepare the valuation roll of mining property in the Westland County in the month of January, one thousand nine hundred and six, as required by section seven of “The Gold Duty Abolition and Mining Property Rating Act, 1890,” it is expedient to extend the time for preparing the said roll and for doing the other things set forth in the said section, as hereinafter mentioned:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in order that the purpose and intent of “The Gold Duty Abolition and Mining Property Rating Act, 1890,” may have effect, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Rating Act, 1894,” which said Act is incorporated with the first above-mentioned Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby extend the time for the preparation of the valuation roll for the Westland County, under “The Gold Duty Abolition and Mining Property Rating Act, 1890,” until the nineteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and six, and doth also hereby extend the time within which the valuers shall give notice of the rateable value determined by them to each occupier, so that such notices may be given on or before the second day of April, one thousand nine hundred and six, and that objections to such valuations may be made on or before the twenty-third day of April, one thousand nine hundred and six.

WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Buller having failed, through misadventure, to prepare the valuation roll of mining property in the Buller County in the month of January, one thousand nine hundred and six, as required by section seven of “The Gold Duty Abolition and Mining Property Rating Act, 1890,” it is expedient to extend the time for preparing the said roll and for doing the other things set forth in the said section, as hereinafter mentioned:

Extending the Scope of the Maungatua, Otokia, and West Taieri Drainage Districts Commission, and appointing an Additional Commissioner.

PLUNKET, Governor.

To all to whom these presents shall come, and to David Barron, Esquire, Commissioner of Crown Lands, of Dunedin; George Cruickshank, Esquire, Stipendiary Magistrate, of Dunedin; William Stonham Short, Esquire, Solicitor, Chief Clerk, Department of Roads, of Wellington; and Edgeworth Richard Ussher, Esquire, District Engineer, Public Works Department, of Dunedin: Greeting.

WHEREAS by a Commission bearing date the twenty-seventh day of February, one thousand nine hundred and six, you, the said

DAVID BARRON,
GEORGE CRUICKSHANK, and
WILLIAM STONHAM SHORT,

were appointed to be Commissioners, with the powers mentioned therein, for the purpose of making inquiry into the desirableness or otherwise of constituting one united drainage district in lieu of the Maungatua, Otokia, and West Taieri Drainage Districts:

And whereas it is expedient that the name of Edgeworth Richard Ussher, Esquire, District Engineer, Public Works Department, should be added to the personnel of the Commission, and that the scope of the inquiry should be extended to include the subject of the drainage of the whole of the lands forming the area known as the Taieri Plain:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, and in exercise and pursuance of every power and authority enabling me in this behalf, do hereby appoint you, the said

EDGEWORTH RICHARD USSHER,

to be a Commissioner to act with the three other Commissioners previously appointed as aforesaid, and I do also hereby extend the scope of the inquiry to include the subject of the drainage of the whole of the lands forming the area known as the Taieri Plain.

And with the like advice and consent, and in further pursuance of the said power and authority, I do hereby confirm the said Commission, except as altered by these presents.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the seal of the said Colony, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and six.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Portion of a Reserve in the Hawke’s Bay Land District.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to change or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in His Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II of the Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; and if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserve or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, the Governor may, by notice gazetted, declare his intention to make such change, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the portion of the reserve described in the second column of the Schedule hereto from that named in the first column of the said Schedule to that named in the third column of the said Schedule respectively.
