Stopping a Government Road in Section 28, Block VI,
Hautapu Survey District, Rangitikei County.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and thirty-three,
subsection (c), of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” it
is enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation publicly
notified, stop or alter the course of any Government road,
or any part thereof: And whereas the Government road
described in the Schedule hereto is no longer required for
the purpose of a road in Section 28, Block VI, Hautapu
Survey District:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the
above-in-part-recited Act, and of all other powers in any-
wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim as
stopped the road in Section 28, Block VI, Hautapu Survey
District, hereinafter described.

SCHEDULE.

Approximate Area of the Road closed. Being through or on Frontage of Section Situated in Block Situated in Survey District of Shown on Plan Coloured on Plan
A. R. P. 1 1 7 28 VI Hautapu R. 7270 Green.

In the Wellington Land District; as the same is more par-
ticularly delineated on the plan marked and coloured as
above mentioned, and deposited in the office of the Chief
Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land
District.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight
Commander of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight
Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Go-
vernor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His
Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its De-
pendencies; and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington,
this twenty-first day of March, in the year of our
Lord one thousand nine hundred and six.

Taking the Mount Vernon Estate under “The Land for
Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and its Amendment.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by a notice published in the New Zealand
Gazette of the third day of September, one thousand
nine hundred and three, it was therein stated that it was
the intention of the Governor to take compulsorily, under
the powers in that behalf conferred by “The Land for
Settlements Consolidation Act, 1900,” and its amendment,
the lands mentioned in such notice:

And whereas, in pursuance of such notice, a claim for
compensation was made by John Walden Harding, and the
claim has been determined by the Compensation Court
sitting at Napier, in the Provincial District of Hawke’s
Bay, in manner provided by such Acts:

And whereas, in pursuance of the said Acts, an order was
made by the said Court on the third day of May, one
thousand nine hundred and four (now duly filed in the
office of the Supreme Court at Napier aforesaid), declaring
the land which the Minister is entitled to take, being iden-
tical with the land specified in the Schedule hereto: And
whereas, in further pursuance of the said Acts, a separate
order was made by the said Court on the twenty-sixth day
of May, one thousand nine hundred and four, declaring the
amount of compensation and costs to be paid in respect to
the taking of such land, which order is now duly filed in the
office of the Supreme Court at Napier:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by
the said Acts, and of all other powers and authorities in
anywise enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto (being
identical with the land specified in the aforesaid order dated
the third day of May, one thousand nine hundred and four,
and referred to in the said order dated the twenty-sixth day
of May, one thousand nine hundred and four) is compul-
sorily taken under the said Acts, as from the first day of
March, one thousand nine hundred and five.

SCHEDULE.

LINDSAY SETTLEMENT (MOUNT VERNON ESTATE).

ALL that piece or parcel of land, containing by admeasure-
ment, exclusive of roads, 7,189 acres, more or less, situate
in the Provincial District of Hawke’s Bay, being Blocks 82,
84, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, and portions of Blocks 76, 83,
85, 97, and 145, in the Ruataniwha Crown-grant District.
Bounded towards the north-east generally by the Waipawa
River; towards the north-west generally by other portions
of Blocks 83, 97, and 76; towards the south-west by the
Kahahakuri Stream; towards the east and south by other
portion of said Block 83; towards the west by a road; and
towards the south-west and south generally by the Kahaha-
kuri Stream and other portions of Blocks 145 and 85: the
above land being intersected by roads: hereafter to be
known as Sections 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 12, 13, 18, and part of 14,
Block V., Waipukurau Survey District; Sections 1, 2, and
3, Block IV.; Sections 18, 19, 21, and 22, Block VIII., Rua-
taniwha Survey District: as the same is more particularly
delineated on the plan marked S.G. 19283, deposited in the
Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Welling-
ton, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon edged
with red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight

of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight

said Acts, a separate order was made by the said Court on
