easterly and south-westerly direction along the western
boundaries of 4487, Pukemokemoke Block, to its intersection
with the right bank of Waitoki Stream; thence in a general
easterly direction along the right bank of the Waitoki
Stream to its intersection with the old goldfields boundary-
line; thence in a southerly direction along the said old gold-
fields boundary-line to its intersection with north boundary
of Section 19, Block V, Aroha Survey District; thence in a
north-easterly direction along northern boundary of said
Section 19, Block V, Aroha Survey District, to its most
northerly point; thence by a straight line in a southerly
direction along the east boundaries of Sections 19, 18,
21, and 22, Block V, Aroha Survey District, and east
boundaries of Sections 23, 24, 27, 27A, 28, 29, and 29A, and
those boundaries prolonged in a southerly direction to the
north-east boundary of Section 14, Block IX, Aroha Survey
District; thence in a south-easterly direction along the
north-east boundary of said Section 14, Block IX, Aroha
Survey District, to the south boundary of the Ohinemuri
County; thence in a westerly direction along the south
boundary of Ohinemuri County to the point of commence-
ment: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recur-
ring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable
half-yearly on the 1st day of February and the 1st day of
August in each and every year during the currency of such
loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is
fully paid off.

And it was further resolved that a meeting of the said
Council be held on Thursday, the 1st day of March, 1906,
to confirm or otherwise deal with the aforesaid resolution.

the Fencourt Drainage Board, is published in accord-
ance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans
Act, 1901.”

FENCOURT DRAINAGE BOARD.
Waikato and Piako Counties.

RESULT of poll, taken at Fencourt on the 5th day of March,
1906, upon a proposal for a loan of £900, under “The Local
Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for a term of twenty-six years, at
5 per cent. per annum, for completing the drainage of the
Fencourt Estate :—

Number of ratepayers on roll, 26; number of votes exer-
cisable, 26; number of votes recorded in favour of the
proposal, 23; number of votes recorded against the proposal,
il; number of ratepayers who voted, 23; number of rate-
payers who did not vote, 3.

As the number of votes given in favour of the proposal
represents more than three-fifths of the total number of
valid votes recorded at the poll, I therefore declare the pro-
posal to be duly carried.

RONGOTEA TOWN BOARD.

In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and
of “The Local Elections Act, 1904.”

I HEREBY give public notice that at the poll of the
electors of the Rongotea Town District, taken on the 5th
day of March, 1906, on the proposal that a loan of £700 be
raised for the purpose of acquiring, developing, and extend-
ing an electric-lighting plant and accessories, the votes
given were as follows: For the proposal, 39 votes; against
the proposal, 9 votes.

And I declare the said proposal to be carried.

Alteration to the Scales of Fares, Rates, and Charges in
Force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.

IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me
under “The Government Railways Act, 1900,” I, Albert
Pitt, Acting Minister for Railways, do hereby make the fol-
lowing alterations in the scale of fares, rates, and charges in
force on the New Zealand Government railways open for
traffic, such alterations to come into force on and after the
19th day of March, 1906.

PART I.—PASSENGERS.
ANNUAL SEASON TICKETS.
(Regulation 16.)

Insert—

Annual season tickets available over lines of both
Islands, and annual season tickets available over
Middle Island lines, will be available for travel over
Lake Wakatipu.

thousand nine hundred and six.

Notice as to Statutory Closing-days under “The Shops and
Offices Act, 1904.”

IN the notice on page 603 of the New Zealand Gazette
of 22nd February, 1906, the words “Waitomo—Wed-
nesday” were omitted from the counties in the North
Island as having failed to decide the working-day in the
week for statutory closing of shops.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Chemists and Druggists’
Shops in the City of Dunedin under the Shops and
Offices Act

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a
majority of the occupiers of all the chemists and
druggists’ shops in the City of Dunedin, has been forwarded
to me, desiring that all such shops in the city shall be
closed on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 8
o’clock in the evening, and on Wednesday and Saturday at
9 o’clock in the evening: And whereas the Dunedin City
Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition
represent a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists and
druggists’ shops in the city :

Now, therefore, I, William Hall-Jones, acting for and on be-
half of the Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of
“ The Shops and Offices Act, 1904,” and section 5 of “The
Shops and Offices Act Amendment Act, 1905,” do hereby
direct that from and after the 26th day of March, 1906, all
chemists and druggists’ shops in the City of Dunedin shall
be closed accordingly on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and
Friday at 8 o’clock in the evening, and on Wednesday and
Saturday at 9 o’clock in the evening, except that on Wed-
nesday afternoon (the statutory half-holiday) shops may
remain open after 1 p.m. only for the sole purpose of supply-
ing medicines and surgical appliances that are urgently re-
quired.

Notice of the Taking and Laying-off of Road through Ohura
South G No. 3, Piopiotea Survey District.

NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under
the authority of section 93 of “The Public Works Act,
1905,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto was,
on the 12th September, 1905, duly taken and laid off
through the land specified in the said Schedule, under the
authority of the Governor of the said colony, by War-
rant dated the 5th April, 1905.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, con-
taining by admeasurement 1 rood 30·3 perches, more or less,
situated in the Piopiotea Survey District, being a road-line
100 links wide, the northern side of which commences at
the north-eastern angle of the Landing Reserve, and pro-
ceeds easterly for a distance of 452·4 links, more or less, to
