It is proposed that the whole amount of the loan shall be repayable at the expiration of a term not exceeding fifteen years, to be computed from the day on which the poll is taken.

And at such poll the number of votes recorded was 144 for the said proposal, and 175 against the proposal; informal votes, 13.

I do hereby declare the said proposal to be rejected.

Notice to Imprestees under “The Public Revenues Act, 1891.”

The Treasury,
Wellington, 22nd February, 1906.

EVERY officer holding advances of public money is hereby required to pay to the Public Account, at the nearest branch of the Bank of New Zealand, the unexpended balance of his account on or before Saturday, the 31st March proximo, and forthwith to transmit to the Treasury at Wellington the bank receipt for such repayment, together with an account of his expenditure to the same date, as required by clause 4 of the Treasury Regulations.

As respects disbursements which officers may require to make immediately after the close of the financial year, requisitions for the amount required are to be made in such time as to enable them to reach Wellington not later than the 17th March, so that the requisite funds may be placed at the disposal of the officer as soon after the 1st April as possible.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Motor-car, Motor-cycle, and Cycle Shops in the City of Christchurch under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers respectively of all the shops in each of the following trades in the City of Christchurch, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all motor-car, motor-cycle, and cycle shops in the district shall be closed at 1 p.m. on the statutory half-holiday, at 9 p.m. on Saturdays, except on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, when the same shall be closed at 11 p.m., or when Christmas Day or New Year’s Day fall on Monday the same shall be closed at 11 p.m. on the Saturday preceding those days, and at 6 p.m. on other working-days; also all day on New Year’s Day and following day, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, King’s birthday, Anniversary Day, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day: And whereas the Christchurch City Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of these trades respectively within the city:

Now, therefore, I, Richard John Seddon, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904,” and section 5 of “The Shops and Offices Act Amendment Act, 1905,” do hereby direct that from and after the 5th day of March, 1906, all shops in the above trades in the city shall be closed accordingly at 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, at 1 p.m. on Thursdays (the weekly half-holiday), at 9 p.m. on Saturday, except on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, when they shall be closed at 11 p.m., or when Christmas Day or New Year’s Day falls on a Monday they shall be closed at 11 p.m. on the Saturday preceding those days; also all day on New Year’s Day and following day, Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, King’s birthday, Anniversary Day, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.

Notice of Intention to take Land in the Paritutu Survey District for Scenic Purposes, and for a Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” and “The Scenery Preservation Act, 1903,” to take for scenic purposes, and for a road, the land described in the Schedule hereto. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Post-office at New Plymouth, and is there open for inspection;

and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking thereof, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

To all to whom these presents shall come, and to David Barron, Esquire, Commissioner of Crown Lands, of Dunedin; George Cruickshank, Esquire, Stipendiary Magistrate, of Dunedin; and William Stonham Short, Esquire, Solicitor, Chief Clerk, Department of Roads, of Wellington: Greeting.

WHEREAS difficulties have arisen in connection with the drainage of the lands comprised within the Maungatua, Otokia, and West Taieri Drainage Districts, in the Otago Land District, and it has been proposed that the aforesaid districts shall form one united district:

And whereas it is provided by section 15 of “The Land Drainage Act, 1904,” that the Governor may from time to time, by Order in Council gazetted, declare that any two or more adjoining drainage districts shall form one united district, with such name as is assigned thereto by the Order, but that no such Order shall be made under the section aforesaid except on the petition of the Boards of the districts, or, if such Boards do not agree, then on the
