I forward herewith plans and specifications of the dwelling-house which I purpose erecting, and agree to pay, on demand, any costs and expenses, whether the transaction be completed or not.

Mortgages will be prepared and completed free of charge, save cash disbursements, which will be deducted from the advance.

Definition of “Worker.” — “Worker” means a person employed in manual or clerical work, and who at the time of his application is not in receipt of an income of more than £200 per annum, and is not the owner of any land other than the section on which he proposes to build.

[Advances to Workers, No. 2.

Statutory Declaration.

I, , of , do solemnly and sincerely declare,—

  1. That I am, subject to the provisions of “The Government Advances to Workers Act, 1906,” applying for a loan for the sole purpose of erecting a dwellinghouse for myself and my family.
  2. That I am employed as by .
  3. That I am not in receipt of an income of more than £200 per annum from all sources.
  4. That I am not the owner of any land other than the section on which I propose to build.

And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and by virtue of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Classes of land (being urban or suburban land) on security of which advances may be made on first mortgage free from all encumbrances, liens, and interests other than leasehold interests :—

  1. (a) Freehold land in fee-simple under “The Land Transfer Act, 1885.” (b.) Freehold land in fee-simple the title to which is registered under “The Deeds Registration Act, 1868.”
  2. Crown land held on perpetual lease under “The Land Act, 1885.”
  3. Crown land held on lease in perpetuity, or Crown land held under occupation license with right of purchase, or Crown leases of village or special settlements, under Parts III and IV of “The Land Act, 1892.”
  4. Crown land held on lease as a small grazing-run under “The Land Act, 1885,” or under “The Land Act, 1892.”
  5. Crown land held on agricultural lease under “The Mining Act, 1891.”
  6. Crown land held on lease (not being for mining purposes) under “The Westland and Nelson Coalfields Administration Act, 1877.”
  7. Native land held on lease under “The West Coast Settlement Reserves Act, 1881,” or under “The West Coast Settlement Reserves Act, 1892.”
  8. Land held on lease under “The Westland and Nelson Native Reserves Act, 1887.”
  9. Land held under “The Thermal-Springs Districts Act, 1881.”
  10. Educational and other reserves held under leases administered by the Land Boards.
  11. Crown land held by license on the deferred-payment system, under Part III of “The Land Act, 1885.”
  12. Land held under lease from a leasing authority, as defined by “The Public Bodies’ Powers Act, 1887,” and providing for the payment by the incoming tenant of valuation for improvements made upon the land.
  13. Land held under lease from a Maori Land Board under “The Maori Land Settlement Act, 1905.”

If the land offered as the security for the desired advance is of any one of the classes of land numbered 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, or 11, the applicant must, before despatching this application, post to the Commissioner of Crown Lands for the district in which the land is situated a notice of this application, in order that the Commissioner may at once furnish the Superintendent with a report respecting the leasehold. A copy of the form of notice can be obtained from any post-office.

Note.—Envelopes for posting applications to the Superintendent may be obtained at all post-offices in New Zealand, together with application forms.

Regulations under “The Scaffolding Inspection Act, 1906.”

PLUNKET, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this seventeenth day of December, 1906.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section five of “The Scaffolding Inspection Act, 1906” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is provided that the Governor may from time to time, by Order in Council gazetted, make regulations relating to scaffolding and gear used in connection therewith: And whereas it is expedient to make the regulations herein-after set forth :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the following regulations for the purposes of the said Act, namely:—

REGULATIONS.

  1. In these regulations,—
    “Scaffolding” means any structure or framework exceeding 16 ft. in height from the ground, and used or intended to be used for the support of workmen in erecting, demolishing, altering, repairing, cleaning, painting, or carrying on any other kind of work in connection with any building, structure, ship, or boat, and includes any swinging stage used or intended to be used for any of the purposes aforesaid;
    “The said Act” means “The Scaffolding Inspection Act, 1906.”

  2. All scaffolding, and all gear used in connection therewith, in any district for which an Inspector has been appointed under the said Act shall be of the description indicated in these regulations under the respective headings, and shall be set up, built, maintained, and used in accordance with such regulations.

Swinging Stage.

  1. Every swinging stage shall be so constructed or built as to bear three times the maximum weight ordinarily required.

Blocks to be of iron or wood not less than 4 in. in diameter of sheaf, consisting of double and single block. All rope to be manila, not less than 2¾ in. circumference. Platform to consist of 10 in. by 1½ in. planking running full length of stage, on 2 in. by ½ in. or 1 in. diameter
