HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve, under “The Defence Act, 1886,” “The Defence Act Amendment Act, 1900,” and regulations thereunder, of the appointment of

Brevet-Colonel ALFRED WILLIAM. ROBIN, C.B., New Zealand Militia, Officer Commanding Otago Military District;

Lieutenant-Colonel JAMES ALLEN, Otago Division, New Zealand Garrison Artillery Volunteers;

Lieutenant-Colonel ARTHUR STONEHAM, 1st Battalion, Otago Rifle Volunteers;

Captain JOHN McINDOE, Active List, D.A.A.G. (B.), Otago Military District;

Captain ROBERT ALEXANDER. JOHNSTON, V.D., North Dunedin Rifle Volunteers;

Captain JOHN ARCHIBALD PAUL FREDERIC, No. 2 Company, New Zealand Garrison Artillery Volunteers (Dunedin Naval Artillery Volunteers); and

Captain GEORGE DOUGLAS ROSS, No. 2 Company, New Zealand Engineer Volunteers (Dunedin Engineer Volunteers),

as Trustees of the Pelichet Bay (Dunedin) Rifle Range Reserve, being portion of Town Belt, City of Dunedin, 2 acres and 8 perches; portion of Town Belt, City of Dunedin, 9 perches; and Section No. 51, Block IX, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, 88 acres; in the Otago Land District: as the said parcels are more particularly delineated upon the plan marked S.G. 38845, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

Special Order made by the Council of the County of Stratford.

THE following special order, made by the Stratford County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

STRATFORD COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Stratford County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £101 10s. 2d., being a further advance on the original loan of £2,000, authorised to be raised by the Stratford County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for re-forming and metalling the Bird Road from the Mountain Road to the Skinner Road, the said Stratford County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅜d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Bird Road Special-rating District, comprising the southern half of Section 45, the southern halves of those portions of Sections 46 and 47 north of the Bird Road, the southern half of Section 48, Sections 49, 50, 51, 114, 116, 120, 122, 123, and those portions of Sections 46 and 47 south of the Bird Road, of Block II; the southern half of Section 77, the southern half of that portion of Section 14 north of the Bird Road, the northern half of Section 1, Sections 7 and 8, with the exception of the southern 20 acres and 20½ perches of those sections occupied by Mr. Webber, Sections 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and the northern half of that part of Section 14 south of the Bird Road, of Block VI; both blocks being in the Ngaiere Survey District: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of February in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, or until the loan is fully paid off; the rate of interest to be 5 per cent. per annum.

The above special order was instituted at a special meeting of the Council held on the 17th day of October, 1906, and confirmed at a meeting held on the 28th day of November, 1906.

Special Order.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Waipipi Road Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges on a loan of £2,000, authorised to be raised by the Waipipi Road Board, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of metalling the Waiuku-Awhitu Road (£1,000), and metalling or shelling the Waipipi Wharf—Creamery Road (£1,000), the said Waipipi Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of ⅜d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within No. 4 Subdivision, Waipipi Road District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the
