It is proposed to strike a special rate of ½d. in the pound on the unimproved value of all rateable property in the Borough of Hamilton; such rate, together with the revenue to be derived from the saleyards, to be pledged as security for the payment of interest and sinking fund. It is not proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan or the interest thereon for the first year.
And that the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal were as follows: For, 194; against, 90; informal, 3.
I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

PRIVATE SIGNALS.
Public notice is hereby given, in pursuance of the provisions of section 231 of “The Marine Act, 1890,” that the following signals have been registered with the Marine Board of Victoria by Messrs. James Paterson and Co. for use on steamships belonging to the said firm while being navigated off the coasts of Victoria, viz.:
One red light over one white light, 6 ft. apart, shown perpendicularly on signal-halyards amidships.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 2 of “The Towns Main Streets Act, 1902,” I, Thomas Young Duncan, Minister of Lands, do hereby authorise the laying-off of Windsor Road, in the Township of Waipawa West, Hawke’s Bay Land District, of a width of 66 ft., instead of 99 ft. as prescribed by section 17 of “The Land Act, 1892.”
