No. 20080.—22nd September, 1905.—INTERNATIONAL CIGAR MACHINERY COMPANY, a corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States of America, and having their principal office at 111, Fifth Avenue, City, County, and State of New York, United States of America (assignees of Oluf Tyberg, of Point Loma, California, United States of America, Mechanical Engineer; William Stone Luckett, of 111, Fifth Avenue aforesaid, Mechanical Engineer; Leon Lake, of Brooklyn, State of New York aforesaid, Mechanical Engineer; Harry Knight, of Jersey City, State of New Jersey aforesaid, Machinist; and Florence Herrington, of San Juan, Porto Rico, Machinist). Improvements in cigar machinery.

Extract from Specification.—This invention relates to an improved cigar-machine. The object of the invention is to provide a cigar-machine in which cigar bunches (i.e., cigar-filler enclosed in binders) shall be taken from a suitable source of supply (as, for instance, a mold) and transported to a wrapping-mechanism where the final or outside wrapper, which converts the bunch into a cigar, is applied. The invention further extends to certain improvements in devices for finishing the cigar, and includes detail improvements in the various mechanisms which comprise the machine. In the particular machine which has been selected to illustrate the invention means are provided for maintaining a stack of ordinary cigar-molds in position, and there are devices by which the several molds of the stack are successively opened to permit the bunches to be removed and then closed after the bunches are removed, the mold being then moved out of the way so that the next succeeding mold may be acted upon. In the best construction means will be provided for removing the bunches from the molds, these means transferring the contents of each mold from the mold to a suitable support or carrier, and from this carrier they are transferred one by one to the wrapping-machine in which the final wrapper is applied. The wrapped cigars are removed from the wrapping-mechanism, after which certain finishing-devices are caused to operate upon them which completes their manufacture.
[NOTE.—The above extract from the specification is inserted in place of the claims.]
