Notice of the Taking and Laying-off of Roads through Mareikura Blocks.

NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under the authority of section 92 of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” that the roads described in the Schedule hereto were, on the 10th February, 1904, duly taken and laid off through the lands specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said colony, by Warrant dated the 20th August, 1903.

SCHEDULE.

ROAD THROUGH MAREIKURA G NO. 2 BLOCK.

ALL that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 4 acres 1 rood 31·6 perches, more or less, situated in the Maungaru Survey District, and being a road-line 100 links wide traversing the Mareikura G No. 2 Block, No. 6187G (red), the western side of which commences at a point on the north-eastern boundary-line of Section 4 of Block IV., Maungaru Survey District, at a distance of 1593 links from its south-eastern angle, and proceeds northerly generally for a distance of 4252·7 links to a road on the bank of the Wairoa River.

ROAD THROUGH MAREIKURA A NO. 2 BLOCK.

Also all that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 10 acres 1 rood 2·6 perches, more or less, situated in the Maungaru Survey District, and being a road-line 100 links wide traversing the Mareikura A No. 2 Block, No. 6187A (red), the eastern side of which commences at a point on the northern boundary of the Mareikura B Block at the termination on that boundary of the eastern side of the road traversing the Mareikura B Block aforesaid and containing 4 acres and 2·4 perches, and proceeds north-westerly and north-easterly generally for a total distance of 14235 links, or thereabouts, to its junction with the road which traverses Section No. 6, Blocks III. and IV., Maungaru Survey District aforesaid.

Also all that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 4 acres 2 roods 31 perches, more or less, situated in the Maungaru Survey District, and being a road-line 100 links wide traversing a portion of the Mareikura A No. 2 Block, No. 6187A (red), the northern side of which commences at the south-western angle of Section No. 6, Block III., and proceeds easterly and south-easterly for a total distance of 4657 links, more or less, o its junction with the road hereinbefore described, and also traversing the Mareikura A No. 2 Block aforesaid.

ROAD THROUGH MAREIKURA B BLOCK.

Also all that parcel of land in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 4 acres and 2·4 perches, more or less, situated in the Maungaru Survey District, and being a road-line 100 links wide traversing the Mareikura B Block, No. 6187B (red), the eastern side of which commences at a point on the southern boundary of the Mareikura A No. 2 Block, being the termination of the eastern side of the road traversing that block and containing 10 acres 1 rood 3·5 perches, and proceeds southerly generally for a distance of 3980·8 links, more or less, to a point on the north-western boundary of Section No. 12, Block VII., Maungaru Survey District, at a distance of 920·7 links from its western angle.

As the same are more particularly delineated on plan marked R. 6753, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue, pink, and purple respectively.

Rules regarding the Manner of Electing a Representative of certain Education Boards on the Committee of Advice of the Wellington Training College.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the fifteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and five, made under “The Education Act, 1904,” regulations were made regarding training colleges and pupil-teachers: And whereas by clause two of the said regulations it is provided that for every training college there shall be a Committee of Advice, consisting of a member of the Education Board of the district in which the training college is situated, and also (with other specified persons) a representative of the other Education Boards (if any) in the university district, to be chosen, if there be more than one other Board, in such manner as the Minister of Education shall determine: And whereas a training college is being established in the Education District of Wellington, in the Victoria University District, wherein there is more than one Education Board other than the Wellington Education Board, and it is therefore necessary to make provision as to the manner in which a representative of such other Education Boards shall from time to time be chosen:

Now, therefore, I, Richard John Seddon, Minister of Education, do hereby make the rules set forth in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of the aforesaid clause two of the said regulations.

SCHEDULE.

  1. The Boards of the Education Districts of Taranaki, Wanganui, Hawke’s Bay, Marlborough, Nelson, Grey, and Westland (hereinafter called “the electing Boards”) shall from time to time choose their representative on the Committee of Advice of the Wellington Training College by means of elections to be conducted as hereinafter provided. Ordinary elections shall be held in the month of September in each year, and any extraordinary election within such period, to be fixed by the Returning Officer, as will enable each of the electing Boards to vote at its first ordinary monthly meeting after its receipt of the list of candidates referred to in clause 5 hereof. The person elected at each election shall hold office until the next ordinary election is completed.

  2. For the purpose of every election the Secretary of the Wellington Education Board shall be the Returning Officer.

  3. No person shall be eligible for election unless he is nominated by a member of one of the electing Boards, and the nomination paper bearing the candidate’s consent in writing and the signature of the Secretary of the Education Board of the district is received by the Returning Officer before the nominations close.

  4. On the occurrence of any extraordinary vacancy, and in the case of the first election immediately on the issue of these rules, the Returning Officer shall by writing notify the electing Boards of the date up to which nominations will be received, such date to be not earlier than fourteen days from the notification thereof. In the case of every ordinary election after the first election nominations shall close on the second Monday in August.

  5. Within seven days after the date on which nominations have closed the Returning Officer shall notify to the electing Boards in writing—

(a) The full name of every duly nominated candidate, and the names of the member by whom, and the education district in which, he is nominated;

(b) The dates between which the election will be held.

  1. The electing Boards shall be entitled to exercise the following number of votes respectively, viz.: The Board of the District of Wanganui four votes; that of Hawke’s Bay three votes; that of Nelson two votes; those of Taranaki, Marlborough, Grey, and Westland one vote each. The voting of each Board shall be effected by resolution passed at a duly constituted meeting thereof, and a notification in writing of the effect of such resolution, signed by the Secretary and Chairman or other member of the Board, shall be sufficient evidence that the vote of such Board was given in favour of the candidate named therein.

  2. If by reason of an equality of votes given for two or more candidates any election is not complete the Chairman of the Wellington Education Board shall have a casting-vote.

  3. Any dispute arising from the operation of these rules shall be referred to the Minister of Education, whose decision shall be final.

Authorising the Laying-off of Robertson Street and Green Street, in the Township of Robertson, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 2 of “The Towns Main Streets Act, 1902,” I, Thomas Young Duncan, Minister of Lands, do hereby authorise the laying-off of Robertson Street and Green Street, in the Township of Robertson, Southland Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft., instead of 99 ft. as prescribed by section 17 of “The Land Act, 1892.”
