to the said bridge, and have respectively agreed to contribute
to the cost of the same the proportions hereinafter ap-
pearing against their respective names: And whereas the
Government has agreed to contribute a subsidy (not ex-
ceeding two thousand pounds) of pound for pound on the
total cost of construction:

And whereas the Governor is of opinion that the work
should be done:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise
of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, do
hereby authorise the Pohangina County Council to construct
the said bridge; and I do hereby declare that the cost of
constructing the said bridge shall be borne by the said
boroughs and Councils in the following proportions—viz.,
Oroua County Council, five hundred and twenty-five
pounds; Palmerston Borough Council, three hundred and
fifty pounds; Feilding Borough Council, two hundred and
twenty-five pounds—and the balance of the cost of con-
structing the said bridge (less the subsidy to be contributed
as aforesaid by the Government) shall be borne by the
Pohangina County Council, and such amounts aforesaid
shall be paid by such local authorities accordingly.

SCHEDULE.

That bridge, together with approaches thereto, over the
Pohangina River at a point known as the Ferry Crossing,
Raumai.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-second day of July, one thousand
nine hundred and five.

Warrant authorising the Rangiora-Mandeville Road Board
to construct a Bridge over the Cust River on the Rangiora-
Oxford Road, and apportioning the Cost thereof.

PLUNKET, Governor.

WHEREAS under the provisions of section one hundred
and thirteen of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” the
Rangiora-Mandeville Road Board has made application to
the Governor to authorise the construction of the bridge
mentioned in the Schedule hereto (hereinafter referred to
as “the said bridge”), and to apportion the cost of con-
structing the said bridge between the said Road Board, the
Cust Road Board, the West Eyreton Road Board, the
Oxford Road Board, the Council of the Borough of
Rangiora, and the Eyreton Road Board:

And whereas by section one hundred and thirteen afore-
said it is further provided that the Governor (with the view
of determining whether or not the work should be done, or
what proportion, if any, of the cost of the same should
fairly be borne by any local authority) may direct any
person to be a Commissioner to inquire and report to him
on the matter: And whereas a Commissioner was ap-
pointed, and an inquiry was duly held: And whereas
such Commissioner did report to the Governor, after
due inquiry, his opinion thereon: And whereas the
Governor is of opinion that the work should be done, and
that the cost thereof, less such amount as may be con-
tributed by Government, should be borne by the Rangiora-
Mandeville Road Board and the respective local authorities
hereinafter mentioned in the several proportions hereinafter
stated:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, Governor
of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise
of the powers and authorities vested in me by the herein-
before-mentioned Act, and of every other power and autho-
rity enabling me in that behalf, do hereby authorise the
Rangiora-Mandeville Road Board to construct the said
bridge; and I do hereby declare that the cost of construct-
ing the said bridge, less such amount as may be contributed
by Government, shall be borne as follows, namely: The
Rangiora-Mandeville Road Board shall bear thirty-seven
and a half per centum of the cost, the Council of the
Borough of Rangiora shall bear twelve and a half per
centum of the cost, the Cust Road Board shall bear twenty-
five per centum of the cost, the West Eyreton Road Board
shall bear eleven per centum of the cost, the Oxford Road
Board shall bear nine per centum of the cost, and the
Eyreton Road Board shall bear five per centum of the cost.

SCHEDULE.

The bridge over the Cust River on the Rangiora-Oxford
Road, known as the Cust Bridge; as the site of the said
bridge is more particularly delineated on the plan marked

R. 4945, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of
Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and
coloured red thereon.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-fifth day of July, one thousand nine
hundred and five.

Notifying Lands in Westland Land District for Sale by
Public Auction.

PLUNKET, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirteenth section of
“The Land Act, 1892,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
appoint Wednesday, the twentieth day of September, one
thousand nine hundred and five, as the time at which the
lands enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by
public auction; and I do hereby fix the prices at which the
said lands shall be sold as those mentioned in the said
Schedule hereto opposite the description of such lands
respectively.

Waitaha Village is situated on the Main South Road be-
tween the Kakapotahi and Waitaha Rivers, and occupies
terraces comprising undulating land having good natural
drainage and gravelly subsoil. The area is wholly covered
with forest. It is situated twelve miles south of Ross,
about one mile from the terminus on the Waitaha River of
the proposed extension of the Hokitika-Ross Railway, and
is accessible by a first-class metalled dray-road. The access-
roads of the farming settlements at Ferguson’s, Kakapotahi,
Upper and Lower Waitaha, and Lake Ianthe all converge to
this village. Height above sea-level, about 100 ft.
