and to approve that his name be placed on the Active List, New Zealand Volunteers, with rank of Lieutenant, and with effect from 20th April, 1905.

THE following special order, made by the Newmarket Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

NEWMARKET BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Special Order making Special Rate.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by “The Public Health Act, 1900,” and its amendments, and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, the Borough Council of the Borough of Newmarket hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of £2,000, authorised to be raised by the Borough Council of the Borough of Newmarket, under the provisions of section 66 of “The Public Health Act, 1900,” for the purpose of expending the same on the extension of drainage-works in the Borough of Newmarket under the provisions of the said section 66, such works being the works recommended by the District Health Officer and approved by the Minister of Public Health, the said Borough Council of the Borough of Newmarket hereby makes and levies a special rate of 3d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property within the Borough of Newmarket; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

I hereby certify that the above special order was duly passed at a special meeting of the Borough Council of the Borough of Newmarket held on the 12th day of May, 1905, and confirmed at a special meeting of the Council of the said borough held on the 9th day of June, 1905.

THE following special order, made by the Waikato County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, and “The Counties Act, 1886,” the Waikato County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £500, authorised to be raised by the Waikato County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of erecting a bridge across the Waikato River at Kirikiriroa, with approaches thereto, the said Waikato County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in that portion of the Waikato County comprising all that part of the Parish of Kirikiriroa bounded—commencing at the Waikato River, towards the north-west by a road along the northern boundaries of Allotments Nos. 167, 179, and 180; towards the south-west by the south-western boundary of Allotment No. 186; again towards the north-west by Allotment No. 184; towards the north-east by the tramway road from the eastern corner of Allotment No. 184 to the point where the said tramway road crosses the railway towards the south; by the railway to the point where the railway crosses the western boundary of Allotment No. 304; towards the east by Allotments Nos. 304 and 223A; towards the south by the Hamilton Town Belt; and towards the south-west by the Waikato River to the commencing-point: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 31st day of March and the 30th day of September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-five years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The above special order was passed at a special meeting of the Waikato County Council held on the 20th day of April, 1905, and confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 26th day of May, 1905.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Carterton Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on an additional loan of £1,000 (making a total of £11,000), authorised to be raised by the Carterton Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of providing a high-pressure water-supply for the Borough of Carterton, the said Carterton Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ¼d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Carterton; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be
