"Establishment," Engineer Volunteer Corps, cancelled, and
Fresh "Establishment" laid down.
PLUNKET, Governor.
WHEREAS by "The Defence Act, 1886," and the
amending Act, 1900, it is, among other things,
enacted that the Governor may from to time make, alter, or
revoke regulations respecting the enrolment, promotion, dis-
cipline, training, exercise, arms, accoutrements, clothing,
conveyance, pay, rations, and lodging of the Forces, or any
portion thereof, and respecting the several other matters in
the said Act mentioned: And whereas on the twentieth
day of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine,
certain regulations were made under the said Act, and were
published in the New Zealand Gazette of the thirtieth day
of March, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine:
And whereas on the twenty-first day of April, one thousand
nine hundred, part of the said regulations were amended by
amending regulations which were published in the New
Zealand Gazette of twenty-sixth day of April, one thousand
nine hundred: And whereas it is now expedient to revoke
certain of the regulations above referred to, and in lieu
thereof to make others:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Go-
vernor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the above-recited power and authority, do hereby
cancel the "establishment" for Engineer Volunteer corps
made on the twenty-first day of April, one thousand nine
hundred, and in lieu thereof do hereby make and prescribe
for such corps the "establishment" set forth in the Schedule
hereto: And I do further declare that the "establishment"
hereby made shall come into force on and from the first day
of April, one thousand nine hundred and five.

The "establishment" so made as above shall be divided
into a field-engineering section of fifty, a signalling section
of twenty-five, and a field-telegraph section of twenty-five,
exclusive of officers.

Certain Animals and Birds to be deemed Game.
PLUNKET, Governor.
IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities
vested in me by "The Animals Protection Act, 1880," I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby declare that from and after the
date hereof the animals and birds mentioned in the Schedule
hereto shall come within the operation of the said Act as
fully and effectively as if they had been included in the
Third Schedule thereto.
SCHEDULE.
American elk, or wapiti (Cervus canadensis).
Mule deer, or black-tailed deer (Odocoileus hemionus).
Virginia deer, or white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virgin-
ianus).
Pintail duck (Dafila acuta).
Wood duck (Aix sponsa).
Canvas-Back duck (Aythya vallisneria).
Snow geese (Chen hyperborea).
White-fronted goose (Anser albifrons).
American black duck (Anas obscura).
Mandarin duck (Aix galericulata).
Canada goose (Branta canadensis).
Black brant geese (Branta nigricans).
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this ninth day of May, one thousand nine hun-
dred and five.

Lands temporarily reserved in the Westland Land District.
PLUNKET, Governor.
WHEREAS by the two-hundred-and-thirty-fifth section
of "The Land Act, 1892," it is enacted that the
Governor may from time to time, either by general or parti-
cular description, and whether the same has been surveyed
or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that
the same may be then held under pastoral license, any
Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of
the purposes in the said section mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by
the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale
the lands in the Westland Land District described in the
Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes in the said
Schedule specified at the end of the respective descriptions
of the lands so intended to be temporarily reserved.
SCHEDULE.
All that area in the Westland Land District, containing
by admeasurement 1,347 acres, more or less, being Section
No. 638 (in red), Block XIII., Hohonu Survey District.
Bounded towards the north-west by a right line in a north-
easterly direction drawn from the Okuku Water-race, and
bearing N. 74° 10′ E., a distance of 6250 links; thence
towards the north-east by a right line in a south-easterly
direction, and bearing S. 15° 35′ E., a distance of 8550 links,
to the north-west corner of Section No. 625, Block XIII.,
Hohonu Survey District, thence by the last-mentioned
section, by the abutment of a public road, by Sections Nos.
624, 623, 622, 621, 620, and 619 of the said Block XIII., by
the crossing of Settlement Road, again by the said Section
No. 619, across Bell’s Creek, by the abutment of a road, by
Sections Nos. 617, 616, 615, and 614 of the said Block XIII.,
by the abutment of a road, by Sections Nos. 613, 612, 611,
and 610 of Block I., Turiwhate Survey District, by the
crossing of a road, by the southern side of the last-mentioned
road, by Section No. 1960 of the said Block I., by the cross-
ing of the Hokitika-Christchurch Road, and again by the
last-mentioned section to its south-western corner on a
public road; towards the south-east by a public road to a
point distant 650 links in a south-westerly direction from
the last-mentioned corner; and thence towards the south-
west generally by a right line in a north-westerly direction
bearing N. 44° 50′ W., a distance of 11300 links, to the
Okuku Dam, by the said dam, and by the Okuku Water-
race, to the right line first mentioned: exclusive of all roads
and reserves which are within the above-described bound-
ary: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G.
53044, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands
and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land Dis-
trict, and thereon coloured red. For a scenic reserve.
All that area in the Westland Land District, containing
by admeasurement 170 acres, more or less, being Section
No. 920 (in red), Block XVI., Hohonu Survey District.
Bounded towards the north by the road reserve running
easterly along the southern shore of Lake Brunner, a dis-
tance of 8728·8 links, from its junction with the eastern side
of the road forming the eastern boundary of Section No. 2062,
Block XVI., Hohonu Survey District; thence towards the
east by a right line due south, a distance of 3700 links;
thence towards the south by a right line due west, a
distance of 7060 links, to the road forming the eastern
boundary of Section No. 2062 aforesaid; and thence
towards the west by the last-mentioned road, a distance
of 2840 links, to the road reserve first mentioned: as the
same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 53044A, depo-
sited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey,
at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon
bordered red. For a scenic reserve.

PURSUANT to and in exercise of the powers in this
behalf conferred upon him by "The Old-age Pensions
Act, 1898," His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand doth hereby abolish the old-age pension dis-
trict known as the Port Chalmers District, and in lieu
thereof doth hereby declare and provide as follows:—
