NOTE.—A calm and dry month. The wind strongest on the 7th, and for six hours on the night of the 24th; the average velocity for the month was seven miles and a half per hour. The monthly mean of the barometer was above the average for the first time since August last, and corresponds with the weather. Maximum temperature of air in shade, 77° Fahr.; minimum, 45°: mean, 61·8° Fahr.—slightly below average, but the usual day temperature was high and the nights very cool. The mean daily range was greater than usual, and considerably over last month’s return: very heavy dews resulted on six evenings. Mean elastic force of vapour, 0·389 in. Mean temperature of the dew-point, 52·1° Fahr. Mean degree of moisture (saturation, 100), 70 per cent. Two earth-tremors on 26th, at 5.47 p.m.
