on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Hilly land; altitude, 300 ft. to 680 ft.; well watered; soil mostly fair; sandstone formation. Old sawmill workings; no timber of any commercial value left. Accessible by fair road, partly metalled, distant about five miles from Centre Bush Railway-station. Sections 2, Block XLI., and 1 and 2, Block XXXVII., weighted with valuation for improvements, as follows: Section 2, Block XLI., 42 acres burned, partly logged and sown in grass, and half-share in 7 chains of fencing; total value, £38 6s. 6d. Section 1, Block XXXVII., 95 acres burned, logged and sown in grass, and half-share in 55 chains of fencing; total value, £42 2s. 6d. Section 2, Block XXXVII., half-share in 55 chains of fencing; value, £12 7s. 6d.

Rural Land in Westland Land District open for Selection on Lease in Perpetuity.

PLUNKET, Governor.

I N pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the seventh day of February, one thousand nine hundred and six; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on lease in perpetuity only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and twenty-one of the said Act, as it contains, or is supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

Heavy mixed bush—rimu, white-pine, and kamahi; level, well-watered, pastoral land; about 30 acres fairly good dry land; balance inferior, peaty, wet soil. Access by formed road from Okuru Post-office and port, two miles and three-quarters.
