Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this sixth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and five.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by section thirteen of “The Land Act, 1892,” and its amendments, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, with the consent of the owners and mortgagees of the lands mentioned in the First Schedule hereto, and of the Mareretu Road Board, being the local authority in whose district the said lands are situated, proclaim as a road the lands in Matakoe Survey District described in the First Schedule hereto; and also do hereby, with the like consents as aforesaid, proclaim as closed the road described in the Second Schedule hereto, which is not required by reason of the road first hereinbefore proclaimed.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS it has been found desirable for the use, convenience, and enjoyment of the Stratford-Wangamomona Branch of the Foxton-New Plymouth Railway to take further land in the Ngaiere Survey District, in addition to land previously acquired for the purposes of the said railway:

Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred on me by sections twenty-nine and one hundred and eighty-eight of “The Public Works Act, 1905,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes above mentioned.

WHEREAS the Lawrence-Roxburgh Railway—namely, an extension of the Lawrence Branch Railway to Beaumont (hereinafter termed “the said railway”)—is a railway the construction of which is authorised by “The Railways Authorisation Act, 1904”: And whereas it has been determined to construct and maintain a portion of the same:

The General Assembly Library (on the right) was completed in 1899 and survived the 1907 fire. Now the oldest remaining original Parliament building, still used as the Parliamentary Library.
