COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.
A SPECIAL ORDER made on 16th December, 1904, and confirmed on 20th January, 1905.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in them in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Cook County Council do hereby resolve as follows: That for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,500, authorised to be raised by the Cook County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for erecting a cart-bridge across the Mangatu River, the said Cook County Council do hereby make and levy a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Mangatu Bridge Loan District, comprising Mangatu No. 2, 1 of M 2, 1 of N 2, 1 of K 1, 1 of 2J2, 1 of 2J1, 1 of 2H, 1 of 2G; Waipaoa 1B, 1C, part 1D; part Section 10, Blocks I., II., and VI., Mangatu No. 1; Subdivision 7, 2 of 4, 1 of 3, Mangatu No. 1; Section 14, Blocks X., XI., and XIV., Arowhana Survey District; Subdivision of 2B, 1 of 2A, 1 of 2D1, 1 of 2D2, Mangatu; part of Waipaoa No. 2, 33,437 acres; Section 1 of 3, Blocks VII. and VIII., Mangatu; Subdivision 2R, 2P1, 2C1, 2C, 2A, 1 of 2B, 2 of 2A, Mangatu; Subdivision 6, Lot 2 of 3, Mangatu 1; Lot 1 of Subdivision 1, Mangatu 1; Lots 2 and 3 of Subdivision 1, Mangatu 1; Subdivision 6 and 8 of Mangatu 1; Lots 4 and 5, Subdivision 1 of Mangatu 1; part Section 10, Blocks I., II., and VI., Mangatu, 1,191 acres; Section 13, Mangatu 1; Sections 11, 12, and 15, Blocks II. and III., Mangatu Survey District; part Mangatu No. 1, 3,500 acres; 2 of 2D1, 3 of 2D1, 1 of 2E, 1 of 2F, 3 of 2G, 2 of 2D2, 3 of 2H, Mangatu; 2L, 2M2, 2 of 2M1, 2 of 2N, 2 of 2K, 2 of 2E, 2 of 2H, 2 of 2J2, 2 of 2J1, 2 of 2G, 4 of 2G, 2 of 2F, Mangatu; Section 25, Blocks XI. and XV., Arowhana Survey District; part Subdivision 2, Mangatu 1; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of June and the 1st day of December in each and every year during a period equal to the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The rate of interest to be 4 per cent. per annum.

THE following special order, made by the Maungatua Drainage Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

MAUNGATUA LAND DRAINAGE DISTRICT.—EAST SUBDIVISION.
Special Resolution making Special Rate confirmed.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Maungatua Land Drainage Board hereby resolve as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £500, authorised to be raised by the Maungatua Land Drainage Board under the above-mentioned Act for drainage-works, new wheel, timbering and bridging drains, &c., on the East Subdivision of Maungatua Land Drainage District, the said Maungatua Land Drainage Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 3d. in the pound upon the capital rateable value of all rateable property of the East Subdivision of the Maungatua Land Drainage District, comprising Sections or Lots 26, 27, 28, 28A to 37, Henley Estate, Block V., Maungatua Survey District; Lot 2 and Lot 4, being part of Sections 38, 39, Block V., Maungatua; Sections 4 to 8, 11, 29 to 62, Henley Estate, Block VI., Maungatua Survey District; A B, Plan 1434, being Sections 39, 44, 45, 46, Block VI., Maungatua Survey District, Sections 39 to 46, Henley Town: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The above special resolution by way of special order was advertised on 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th January, 1905, and at a special meeting held on 30th January, 1905, was duly confirmed.

AKITIO COUNTY COUNCIL.
SPECIAL ORDER made on 5th November, 1904; confirmed on 17th December, 1904.
That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” the Akitio County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,800, authorised to be raised by the Akitio County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of metalling the Huia Road from the Alfredton–Weber Road to the junction of the Waihoki Road, the Akitio County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1d. in the pound on the capital value of all rateable property of the Huia Road Special Loan District, comprising Sections 19, 20, 21, and 26, Block I., Aohanga; Section 6, Block II., Aohanga; Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24, Block VI., Aohanga; Sections 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31, Block V., Aohanga; Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 20, 21, 23, 24, 25, and 26, Block X., Aohanga. The first year’s interest, cost of raising the loan, and clerical expenses to be paid out of loan. The interest on the said loan to be at the rate of 3½ per centum per annum for a term of forty-one years.
The above special order was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the Akitio County Council on the 5th November, 1904, and confirmed on the 17th December, 1904.

Malacca Strait, &c.
PENANG HARB.—The following beacons are to be est. to mark the tel. and telephone cables in the harb.: A high white beacon is to be placed against and show over the harb. limit mark (5° 25′ N., 100° 22⅓′ E.). A white iron pile beacon, est. in a depth of 5 ft., at about 3 cables S. 88° W. from the above. A F. white lt., R. 5 miles, exh. from each beacon. These beacons or lts., in line N. 88° E., mark the direction of the telephone cables, and also the prohibited anchorage-ground. Nov.
ONE FM. BANK LT.—On 15th July, 1904, the constr. of a new lt.-h. in 2° 53′ N., 101° E., on the bank, was to be commenced. During the progress of the works flares and other lts. about 8 ft. above H.W. may be occasionally shown, but the present lt. (rev. white) is still to be exh. Sept.
GASPAR STRAIT.—An exam. of the area where a sandbank, carrying about 2 fms., was reported in 1892 by the master of the ship “Oromaso” in approx. 1° 50′ S., 107° 30⅔′ E., proved no trace of such a bank could be found. It has accordingly been expunged from the Admiralty charts. Nov.
