IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section twenty of “The Mining Act, 1893,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling me on this behalf, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby set apart the unoccupied Crown lands described in the Schedule hereto for mining purposes exclusively.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, containing 928 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks IV. and VIII., Rahu Survey District. Bounded by a line commencing at section-peg No. 11a, the said peg being the south-western corner peg of Section No. 9, Block VIII., Rahu Survey District, and proceeding thence by a right line bearing due north a distance of 2151·8 links to the north-western corner of said Section No. 9; thence by a line in a north-easterly direction parallel to and distant about 1000 links from the middle of the River Sheriff (Station Creek), and which forms the north-eastern boundary-line of Sections Nos. 5, 4, and 1 of said Block VIII., to peg No. XV.A; thence by a line in a westerly direction bearing N. 85° 36′ W. a distance of 7975 links to the right bank of the Maruia River; thence northerly along said bank to road-peg No. A; thence by a line in a north-easterly direction bearing N. 34° 59′ E. a distance of 1630 links; thence by a line in a northerly direction bearing N. 6° 7′ E. a distance of 1505·9 links to the southern side of a public road; thence easterly by said public road a distance of 4083 links; thence by a line in a south-easterly direction bearing S. 30° 5′ E. a distance of 3000 links; thence by a line in a south-easterly and southerly direction parallel to and distant about 1000 links from the middle of the said River Sheriff (Station Creek) to peg No. B; and thence by a right line due west a distance of 2500 links to peg No. 11a aforesaid, the place of commencement: exclusive of roads and reserves which are within the above-described boundaries: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 52769, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red. All that area in the Nelson Land District, containing 2,000 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks XI., XII., XV., and XVI., Burnett Survey District. Bounded by a line commencing at road-angle peg No. XV. on the western side of Main Valley Road, the said peg being the north-eastern corner of Section No. 1, Block XVI., Burnett Survey District, and proceeding thence by a right line due west a distance of 10150 links to the western side of a reserve 2 chains wide running along the left bank of the Maruia River; thence northerly along said side of said reserve a distance of 800 links; thence westerly along the northern side of a public road a distance of 6820 links; thence by a line in a north-westerly direction bearing N. 9° 6′ W. a distance of 1411 links; thence by a line due north a distance of 14250 links; thence by a line in an easterly direction bearing N. 70° 43′ 27″ E. a distance of 9980·1 links; thence by a line due south a distance of 1000 links: thence by a line in easterly direction bearing S. 83° 32′ E. a distance of 3749 links to Main Valley Road aforesaid; and thence in a southerly direction by said Main Valley Road to peg No. XV. aforesaid, the place of commencement: exclusive of roads and reserves which are within the above-described boundaries: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 52769A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red. For a mining reserve.
All that area in the Nelson Land District, containing 630 acres, more or less, situated in Block XVI., Rahu Survey District, and Block IV., Lewis Survey District. Commencing at a point on the north-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 2, Square No. 182, reserved for public utility (Nelson Provincial Gazette of 5th August, 1875), the said point being distant 11913·6 links south and 17747·4 links east of Trig. Station F, Rahu Survey District, and proceeding thence in a north-westerly direction along said boundary-line a distance of 2200 links; thence by a line in a north-easterly direction running parallel to and distant (on the western side) 1000 links from the middle of the Alfred River to the southern shore of Lake Daniell; thence by the said shore to the left bank of the said Alfred River where it flows out of the said lake; thence by a right line in a south-easterly direction bearing S. 45° E. to where it is intersected by a line running parallel to and distant (on the eastern side) 1000 links from the middle of the said Alfred River; thence south-westerly by the last-mentioned line to a point marked E on the plan hereinafter referred to; thence south-easterly by a line running parallel to and distant (on the northern side) 1000 links from the middle of a branch of the said Alfred River to a point marked F on the plan hereinafter referred to; thence south-westerly by a line across said branch of the Alfred River to where it is intersected by a line running parallel to and distant (on the southern side) 1000 links from the middle of said branch to a point marked G on the plan hereinafter referred to; thence north-westerly by the last-mentioned line to a point marked H on the plan hereinafter referred to; thence south-westerly by a line running parallel to and distant (on the eastern side) 1000 links from the middle of the Alfred River aforesaid to the point of commencement: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked S.G. 52769B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red. For a mining reserve.

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by the eighth section of “The Justices of the Peace Act Amendment Act, 1888,” I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons named in the Schedule hereto, being persons holding the office of Postmaster under “The Post Office Act, 1900,” at the places set opposite their names respectively in the said Schedule, are authorised to take and receive statutory declarations under the two-hundred-and-thirty-fourth section of “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”
