Vesting Control of the Matarawa Bridge, over the Waiohine River, in the Wairarapa South County Council, and apportioning the Cost of Maintenance.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and fourteen of “The Public Works Act, 1894” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is, inter alia, enacted that the Governor may, upon the terms and conditions in the said section mentioned, by Proclamation publicly notified, direct that any bridge already constructed, or which may hereafter be constructed, over or across any river or arm of the sea respectively shall, from and after a date to be fixed in such Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of such local authority as shall be mentioned in that behalf in such Proclamation; and may by any such Proclamation as aforesaid fix and determine whether all or any, and if so what part, of the cost, whether theretofore incurred or thereafter to be incurred, of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing any such bridge is to be provided and paid by the local authority or authorities; and may by any such Proclamation as aforesaid direct how, when, and to whom any such payment is to be made:
And whereas it is expedient to make provision under the said Act for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter set forth:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers and authority vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and direct that the said bridge shall, from and after the date of this Proclamation, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the Council of the County of Wairarapa South; and in further pursuance of the aforesaid powers and authorities I do hereby fix and determine that the cost of maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing the said bridge shall be borne by the Council of the County of Wairarapa South in the proportion of three-thirteenths and the Council of the Borough of Greytown in the proportion of ten-thirteenths of the said cost respectively:
And I do hereby also further direct that any contribution hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Council of the Borough of Greytown shall be paid from time to time in the proportion hereinbefore prescribed out of the funds of the said borough, within a period of thirty days after demand in writing made by or on behalf of the Council of the County of Wairarapa South, and such payments shall be made from time to time to the Clerk of the said Council for and on account of such Council.
SCHEDULE.
That bridge over the Waiohine River between the Wairarapa South County and the Borough of Greytown, known as the Matarawa Bridge, on the line of road passing through Section 227, Block IX., Tiffin Survey District, and abutting on Section 33, Block XIII., of the aforesaid survey district; as the site of the said bridge is delineated on the plan marked R. 4435, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable William Lee, Baron Plunket, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twelfth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and four.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereunto are required to be taken, under “The Public Works Act, 1894,” for a certain work, to wit, for the purpose of drainage and sewage works, within the Borough of Palmerston North, in pursuance of powers granted by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900”:
And whereas the Council of the Borough of Palmerston North has laid before the Governor a memorial, accompanied by a map, and also the statutory declaration, as required by “The Public Works Act, 1894”:
Now, therefore, I, William Lee, Baron Plunket, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, the lands mentioned in the Schedule hereto are hereby taken for the purposes of the said drainage and sewage works, and shall vest in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Palmerston North,
