A meeting of ratepayers of the City of Dunedin to consider the said proposal was duly convened by me, as Mayor of the City of Dunedin, by notice duly published in manner required by the said Acts, and such meeting was held at Dunedin aforesaid upon Monday, the 11th day of January instant, when the following resolution was passed, eighteen ratepayers voting for it and three against it: “That the Corporation of the City of Dunedin exercise the borrowing-powers conferred upon it by ‘The Dunedin City and Suburban Tramways Act, 1901,’ or any other power existing in that behalf, by borrowing the sum of £100,000 for the purpose of extending and completing the system of tramways under the said Act, and for other purposes connected therewith.”

In pursuance of a notice duly published by me, a poll of the ratepayers of Dunedin was taken upon the 21st day of January instant, in manner prescribed by law, when 217 ratepayers voted for the said proposal and 51 against it. The total number of valid votes polled was 268.

All proceedings required by law to be taken in or towards obtaining the sanction of the said ratepayers to the proposal were duly taken, and the said resolution and poll in favour of the proposal were duly carried.
And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true, and under the provisions of “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.”

Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to “The Dunedin City and Suburban Tramways Act, 1901,” “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and any other power enabling it in that behalf, at a meeting of ratepayers of the City of Dunedin held at Dunedin upon the 11th day of January, 1904, duly convened for the purpose of considering the proposal in that behalf of the Corporation of the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the City of Dunedin, it was resolved, “That the Corporation of the City of Dunedin exercise the borrowing-powers conferred upon it by ‘The Dunedin City and Suburban Tramways Act, 1901,’ or any other power existing in that behalf, by borrowing the sum of £100,000 for the purpose of extending and completing the system of tramways under the said Act, and for other purposes connected therewith,” eighteen ratepayers voting for it and three against it.
And notice is hereby further given that a poll of the ratepayers of the City of Dunedin was taken upon the said proposal upon the 21st day of January instant, when 217 ratepayers voted in favour of the said proposal, and 51 ratepayers voted against it; and I declare the said proposal to be carried.

BOROUGH OF NAPIER.
In the matter of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the Acts amending the same; and in the matter of a proposal of the Corporation of the Borough of Napier to borrow the sum of £10,000 for the following purposes: Waterworks purposes—that is, in the purchase of a boiler, in the erection of a reservoir, and water-mains—£4,150; sanitary-works purposes—that is, main and branch sewer extension—£2,800; erection of new bridge over the Iron Pot at Port Ahuriri and approaches thereto—£1,000; permanent road-formation—that is, raising of streets to their proper level and water-channel formation of the same—£850; fire-brigade purposes—that is, purchase of land for erection of building on a centrally situated site, the removal of the present buildings, and the erection of a tower, erection of hose-reel station, and equipment of same—£600; cost of erection of morgue and isolation hospital site, £600: total, £10,000.
Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, and “The Regulation of Local Elections Act, 1876,” and its amendments, a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Napier was taken on the above proposal on Friday, the 22nd January, 1904, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., when the following votes were recorded:—
For the proposal, 301; against the proposal, 100; informal, 7.
As a majority of the total votes recorded was in favour of the said proposal to borrow the sum of £10,000 for the above purposes, I declare such proposal duly carried.
