between Sections 30 and 29, of Block I., Invercargill Hundred, also along the centre of Herbert Street, 4200 links; thence due south along the western boundary of Kelvin Road, 1024 links; thence due east across the said roadway and along the southern boundary of Sections 24 and 23, Block I., Invercargill Hundred, 4105 links, to Elles Road; thence due north along the western side of said roadway, 3424 links; thence due west along a line being the continuation of north side of Albert Street, Gladstone, 2425 links; thence due north, 1025 links, to the Waihopai River; thence due west, and thereafter south-westerly along the southern and south-easterly side of the said Waihopai River to the starting-point: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 8th day of August and the 8th day of February in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

Special Order.—Abattoirs Extension Loan, £1,000.
THAT, in accordance with the provisions of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” “The Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1900,” and all other Acts and powers enabling it in that behalf, the Council of the Borough of Napier do hereby authorise by special order the raising of a special loan of £1,000 for the purpose of carrying out certain extension and necessary works at the Council’s abattoir at Awatoto.
Passed at a special meeting of the Borough Council held on Wednesday, the 20th day of May, 1903.

Public Notice.
IN pursuance of “The Oamaru Harbour Board Loan Act, 1903,” I hereby give notice that the votes recorded at the poll of the ratepayers of the Oamaru Harbour District, taken on the 22nd day of January, 1904, on the proposal of the Oamaru Harbour Board to issue a loan for the sum of £17,000, authorised to be borrowed by section 4 of the said Act, the proceeds of such loan to be expended upon the purposes mentioned in the said section 4 — namely, improving the Port of Oamaru, increasing the accommodation thereat, and providing further facilities and improving existing facilities for carrying on the work of the said port—such loan to be secured upon a rate made and levied under the provisions of the said Act, were as follows:—
For the proposal, 686 votes; against the proposal, 135 votes.
The number of votes given for the proposal exceeding the number of votes given against it by more than one-fourth of the latter, I hereby declare the resolution in favour of the proposal to be carried.

RESULT of poll under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act for the purpose of raising a loan of £1,300 for metalling the unmetalled portion of the Levin-Foxton Road:—
Number of ratepayers on roll, 308: Valid votes recorded in favour of proposal, 95; valid votes recorded against the proposal, 74; invalid votes, 3.
The number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal not being three-fifths of the total valid votes recorded, I therefore declare the proposal to be not carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the City of Dunedin, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

In the matter of a resolution by the City of Dunedin to borrow further moneys for the purposes of extending and completing its system of tramways.
I, THOMAS SCOTT, Mayor of the City of Dunedin, in the Colony of New Zealand, do solemnly and sincerely declare:—

Pursuant to a resolution of the Council of the City of Dunedin, duly passed upon the 25th day of November, 1903, a notice of the intention of the Corporation of the City of Dunedin to borrow a sum of £100,000 for the purpose of extending and completing the system of tramways mentioned in “The Dunedin City and Suburban Tramways Act, 1901,” and for other purposes connected therewith, was published in manner required by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and the requirements of the said Acts in regard to such notice and its publication have been complied with.

The following is a copy of the said notice:—
“PURSUANT to the provisions of ‘The Dunedin City and Suburban Tramways Act, 1901,’ ‘The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,’ and ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ and any other power enabling it in that behalf, public notice is hereby given that it is proposed by the Corporation of the City of Dunedin to borrow by way of special loan the undermentioned sum for the purposes hereinafter mentioned.
“It is proposed to exercise the borrowing-powers which are conferred upon the Corporation of the City of Dunedin by ‘The Dunedin City and Suburban Tramways Act, 1901,’ or any other power enabling it in that behalf, by borrowing the sum of £100,000 for the purpose of extending and completing the system of tramways mentioned in the said Act, and for other purposes connected therewith.
“The security for the said loan, in addition to the general indebtedness of the City of Dunedin, shall be (subject to prior charges existing thereon) the net profits of the whole of the tramways, and also the tramway undertaking, tramways plant, appliances, stores, and other property, real and personal, connected therewith, owned by the Corporation of the City of Dunedin.
“Provision will be made for the repayment of the loan by the creation of a sinking fund of ½ per cent. per annum.
“The currency of the debentures to be to the 1st day of March, 1922, and the rate of interest 4½ per cent. per annum.
