WANGANUI BOROUGH COUNCIL.

"THE PUBLIC WORKS ACT, 1894," AND AMENDMENTS THEREOF.

Notice to take Lands for Waterworks, &c.

Notice is hereby given that it is the intention of the Council of the Borough of Wanganui to take, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, the lands described in the First, Second, Third, and Fourth Schedules hereto, for the purpose of constructing "waterworks" (as defined by section 287 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900") for the supply of water for the use of the inhabitants of the borough, and for extending and enlarging the present "waterworks" as above defined of the said borough, and for any purpose incidental or in relation to any of the above purposes.

It is the intention of the Council to use the land described in the First and Second Schedules as a catch-water area, and to erect a dam across the Okehu Stream where it runs through the land described in the Second Schedule, and to thereby collect the water in a reservoir for the supply of the borough and its vicinity with water by means of pipes. It is intended to use the lands described in the Third and Fourth Schedules principally as a track for laying such pipes.

A survey of the said lands has been made and plans thereof prepared, and a copy of such plans has been deposited in the offices of the said Council in St. Hill Street, Wanganui, being the place for such deposit directed by the said Council. Such plans are open to inspection by all persons at all reasonable hours.

And notice is hereby further given that all persons affected are hereby called upon to set forth in writing any well-grounded objection to the execution of the said works, and to send such objection within forty days from the first publication of this notice to the said Borough Council, at its office in the Town of Wanganui.

Dated this 25th day of January, 1904.
