WASHINGTON.
PUGET SOUND.—PULLY POINT.—POST LIGHT ESTABLISHED.—On 30th June, 1904, a fixed white post lantern light will be established at Pully Point, eastern side of Puget Sound. The light will be suspended 16 ft. above the water from an arm on an unpainted pile located on the south-eastern corner of the wharf on the outer end of the point, on the following bearings: Robinson Point post light, S. 6° 30′ E. true (S.S.E. ⅝ E. mag.); Dolphin Point, right tangent, N. 40° W. true (N.W. by W. ⅝ W. mag.). Approx. position: Lat. 47° 27′ N., long. 122° 23′ W.
JUAN DE FUCA STRAIT.—HEIN BANK.—BUOY CHANGED IN POSITION.—Referring to Notice to Mariners No. 25 (923) of 1904, further notice is given by the Lighthouse Inspector that Hein Bank Buoy, a red and black horizontally striped nun, was moved on 10th June, 1904, about 1,300 ft. to the southward, in 35 ft. of water, and is now (approximately) 50 ft. N. 16° E. true (N. ⅞ W. mag.) from a pinnacle rock or boulder having but 14½ ft. over it at mean low water, on the following bearings: Smith Island Lighthouse, S. 75° E. true (E. ⅞ N. N’ly. mag.); New Dungeness Lighthouse, S. 14° W. true (S. ⅞ E. mag.); Discovery Island Lighthouse (Canadian), N. 60° W. true (W. ½ N. mag.).
SAN JUAN CHANNEL.—SALMON BANK BUOY NO. 1 CHANGED IN POSITION.—On 10th June the first-class spar buoy No. 1, marking Salmon Bank, south entrance to San Juan Channel, was moved 1,500 ft. to the southward of its former position, and moored in 41 ft. of water, on the following bearings: Cattle Point Post Light, N. 24° E. true (North mag.); Smith Island Lighthouse, S. 42° E. true (S.E. by E. ⅞ E. mag.); Discovery Island Lighthouse (Canadian), West true (S.W. by W. ⅞ W. mag.).
SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN.
GILBERT ISLANDS.—NANOUTI (NONUTI).—POSITION OF BEACON CHANGED.—CAUTION.—Information, dated 27th April, 1904, has been received from the Commander in Chief, Australia, that the master of the steamer “Titus” reports that the stone beacon on Tipurao Sandbank, in the approach to Nonuti, having been washed away, another beacon has been erected on the southern point of the bank. This beacon in its new position must not be used as a leading mark, as in line with the conspicuous gap it would take a vessel amongst the shoal heads to the southward of the track recommended. Approximate position on H.O. chart No. 121, latitude 0° 39′ S., longitude 174° 23′ E.
