NOTE.—A fine month, the rain being under the average amount. The maximum rainfall, 0·41 in., was recorded on the 21st. Maximum temperature in the shade, 70·5°; minimum, 43·5°; mean temperature of dew-point, 39·7°; mean humidity, 53.

Tenders for Letter-carriers’ and Telegraph Messengers’ Uniforms, including Caps, Helmets, Hats, and Leggings.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 17th May, 1904.

TENDERS will be received at the General Post Office, Wellington, until Tuesday, the 27th June, for the manufacture within the colony, from New-Zealand-made material, of letter-carriers’ uniforms — namely, tunic, trousers, riding-trousers, overcoat, and overcoat with cape; and for caps, helmets, felt hats, and leather leggings.

The term of contract to be for three years from the 1st July, 1904, to the 30th June, 1907.

Samples may be seen at all Chief Post-offices, where also specifications and form of tender may be obtained.

Tenders will at the same time be received for uniforms and overcoats for telegraph messengers, samples of which may be seen at any of the principal telegraph-offices.

Tenders quoting price for each garment, accompanied by samples of material, to be addressed to the Hon. the Postmaster-General, General Post Office, Wellington, and indorsed outside “Tender for uniforms.”

The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

IT is hereby notified that at the examination in March, 1904, held under “The New Zealand Institute of Surveyors and Board of Examiners Act, 1900,” and conducted by the Federated Surveyors’ Boards of Australasia and New Zealand, the following New Zealand candidates obtained the requisite marks and passed the full examination:—
