THE following special order, made by the North Invercargill Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BOROUGH OF NORTH INVERCARGILL.
Special Order making Special Rate.
Public notice is hereby given that at a special meeting of the Council of the Borough of North Invercargill, held at the Town Hall, in Ann Street, North Invercargill, on Thursday, the 7th day of April, 1904, at 9 of the clock in the evening, the said Council, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1900,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” passed the following resolution, intended to operate as a special order; and at a special meeting of the same Council, held on Thursday, the 5th day of May, 1904, at the same place, at 9 of the clock in the evening, the said resolution was confirmed, that is to say:—
Resolution: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a special loan of £4,500, authorised to be raised by the Borough Council of the Borough of North Invercargill, without taking a poll, under the provisions of “The Public Health Act, 1900,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, the said Borough Council of the Borough of North Invercargill hereby makes and levies a special rate of 29⁄16d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Borough of North Invercargill, and contained within the following boundary-lines, that is to say: All that area in the Provincial District of Otago, in the said colony, bounded towards the north by a road-line and Sections Nos. 36, 37, and 38 of Block I., Invercargill Hundred; towards the east by a road-line and Sections No. 35 and 34; again towards the north by said Section No. 34; towards the north-east by Section No. 6; towards the south-east by Sections Nos. 5, 4, and 3, all of said Block I. and the Borough of East Invercargill; and towards the west by the Park Reserve, being Section No. 22 of Block I., and Section No. 26 of same block: and that such special rate shall be an annual recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of December and the 1st day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of fifteen years, or until the said loan is paid off.

Gulf St. Vincent. - Entrance to Port Adelaide River.
Notice is hereby given that on and after 16th May, 1904, an improved white light will be exhibited from the site of the old lighthouse, at a height of 45 ft. above high-water mark.
The light will be visible all round the horizon for a distance of ten miles.
This affects Admiralty Charts Nos. 1750 and 2389A and B.

AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—BUOY OFF MARAETAI POINT.

NOTICE is hereby given that, on and after the 1st June, 1904, a black buoy will be moored 6½ cables off Maraetai Point, in Tamaki Strait, Hauraki Gulf.
The buoy will be placed in 3 fathoms of water at low-water springs.

SHOAL PATCH—TORRES STRAIT.
COMMANDER R. H. HARVEY, of the British New Guinea S.Y. “Merrie England,” reports that when off the Bensbach River, proceeding towards Thursday Island via the Proudfoot Lightship, at 11.17 a.m. on the 29th January last, the vessel passed over an extensive shoal patch, having clear sandy bottom with patches of coral, in the following approximate position: Lat. 9° 52′ S., long. 140° 50′ E.
The lead gave a depth of from 2¾ fathoms to 5 fathoms over the shoal. The north and south sides, which were crossed, were steep-to.
Chart affected: No. 447; “Australia Directory,” Vol. iii.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 2 of “The Towns Main Streets Act, 1902,” I, Thomas Young Duncan, Minister of Lands, do hereby authorise the laying-off of Princes Street and George Street, in the Town of Ramanui, Taranaki Land District, of a width of 66 ft., instead of 99 ft. as prescribed by section 17 of “The Land Act, 1892.”
