Rural Land in Otago Land District open for Sale or Selection.

RANFURLY, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on and after the twenty-seventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred and four; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase or on lease in perpetuity, or, in respect of any land containing or supposed to contain any metal, mineral, or valuable stone, be selected on lease in perpetuity only; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

A rough bush section, with a fair soil. Timber comprises rata, red-pine, and broadleaf. Situated about thirteen miles from Owaka Railway-station, about two miles and a half from Purekireki School, and about two miles from a dairy factory.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth section of “The Land Act, 1892,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, having received the report of the Surveyor-General in this behalf, as in the said section is provided, do hereby declare that the rural lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on and after the twenty-seventh day of June, one thousand nine hundred and four; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may be selected on lease in perpetuity only, in accordance with the provisions of section one hundred and twenty-one of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metals, minerals, or valuable stone; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of “The Land Act, 1892.”

About one-third of the area cannot be cultivated, but the remainder is fair land; the surface is somewhat broken by two gullies. Situated about five miles from the Town of Lawrence.

Rough pasture land, much broken; a large portion of the section is covered with noxious weeds; there is two or three acres of flat land fronting the road. Situated about five miles from the Town of Lawrence.

Open land, rather poor and dry; about 20 acres is fit for cultivation, the remainder being hilly. Situated about thirty-five miles from Cromwell.

Weighted with £64 12s., valuation for improvements.

This section is rather rocky, and no great extent of it can be ploughed in one block; the soil, though fair, is inclined to be sour. The aspect is westerly, and away from the sun. Situated on the Macrae’s–Middlemarch Road, about eleven miles from Macrae’s.
