Also that road in the Wellington Land District and in the Wanganui County known as the Puwehea Road, in Block X., Maungakaretu Survey District, from its junction with the Turakina Valley Road eastwards along the frontages of Sections 1 and 2, a distance of 36·25 chains or thereabouts; as the said road is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 5161⁵, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, thereon coloured red and numbered 20.

Also all that portion of the Taihape–Otuarei Road, in the Wellington Land District and the County of Wanganui, commencing at its junction with the main road from Taihape to Waiouru, and extending in a northern and easterly direction to the boundary of the county, being a distance of 1 mile 65 chains or thereabouts, fronting Sections 14, 15, 16, and 17 of Block X., Ohinewairua Survey District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 5161⁵, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red and numbered 35.

Declaring Portion of Mamaku–Arahiwi Road, Piako County, to be a County Road.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of April, 1904.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the portion of the Mamaku–Arahiwi Road described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, be a county road.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that road in the Auckland Land District, situated in Block VIII., Patetere North-east Survey District, in Block XIII., Rotorua Survey District, lying between point A on plan, opposite the Arahiwi Railway-station gate, and the boundary-line between the Rotorua and Piako Counties, at point B, lying along the southern boundary of portion of the Waititi-Koronui Block No. 1a, Block VIII., Patetere North-east Survey District, Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and portion of 8, Block XIII., Rotorua Survey District, and along the northern boundary of portion of the Auckland and Rotorua Railway-line in Block VIII., Patetere North-east, and Block XIII., Rotorua Survey Districts, known as the Mamaku–Arahiwi Road, a distance of about two miles or thereabouts: as the same is delineated on the plan marked R. 5161⁸, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, thereon coloured sienna and marked A.B.

Declaring Terrace Road, Rangitikei County, to be a County Road.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of April, 1904.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in him by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the road known as Terrace Road, described in the Schedule hereto, shall, on and after the date of this Order in Council, be a county road.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that portion of the road in the Wellington Land District, situated in the Rangitikei County, and known as the Terrace Road, commencing at its junction with the Cage Road, and proceeding generally in a northerly direction along frontages of Sections 23, 24, 25, and 26, Rakau-Toru Village Settlement; thence along frontage of Section 35, Block VI., Hautapu, intersecting Section 36, Block VI., Hautapu, in which it crosses the Main Trunk Railway-line; and terminating at the southern boundary of Section 39, Block VI., Hautapu, a distance of 1 mile 30 chains or thereabouts: as the said road is more particularly delineated on the plan marked R. 5161BB, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, thereon coloured red and marked CC.

The Secondary Schools Act, 1903”: Regulations.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this fifteenth day of April, 1904.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN exercise and pursuance of all powers and authorities him enabling, His Excellency the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the colony, doth hereby, as set forth in the Schedule hereto, amend the regulations made by Order in Council dated the sixteenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and three, under the provisions of “The Secondary Schools Act, 1903,” and with the like advice and consent doth prescribe that this order shall take effect on the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.


SCHEDULE.

AMENDMENT OF REGULATIONS UNDER “THE SECONDARY SCHOOLS ACT, 1903.”

In clause 3. subclause (c), for the words “in clause 7 hereof” insert the words “in clause 12 hereof.”

In clause 5, after the words “nor shall the secondary school be required to admit to a free place,” insert the words “under subclause (b) of clause 3.”

At the end of clause 12 insert the words “The tenure of a free place shall be reckoned from the 1st January preceding the date of the holder’s admission to the secondary school.”

After clause 14 insert the following new clause:—

“14A. For the purpose of these regulations a qualified pupil under the regulations for district high schools who has been in attendance at a district high school that has been disestablished with a view to the establishment of a high school under section 6 of the Act shall be held to have been the holder of a free place at such high school.”

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by “The Government Valuation of Land Act Amendment Act, 1903,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and direct that the district valuation roll for the North Riding of Stratford County shall be revised by the Valuer-General as at the 31st day of March, one thousand nine hundred and four.
