Special Order made by the Council of the Borough of Carterton.

THE following special order, made by the Carterton Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

CARTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Special Order making Special Rate.—Loan of £150, Wyndham Street.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and amendments, the Carterton Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and charges on a loan of £150, authorised to be raised by the Carterton Borough Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and amendments, for the purpose of buying extension to Belvedere Road, costs of title, and fencing same, and forming, metalling, and channelling the street known as Wyndham Street, the said Carterton Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 3d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Wyndham Street Special-rating District, comprising all that piece of land being part of the sections numbered 205 and 206 on the plan of the Taratahi Plain Block, within the Borough of Carterton, which is enclosed by the following lines: Commencing at a point on Section 205, at the intersection of the railway-line at its western boundary and the southern boundary of Kent Street; thence along the southern boundary of Kent Street, 993·29 links; thence in a south-westerly direction to the southern boundary of Section 205, 591·64 links; thence in a south-easterly direction along the southern boundary of Section 205, 100 links; thence in a south-westerly direction through Section 206 to Potts Street, 1387·2 links; thence in a south-easterly direction along northern boundary of Potts Street to railway-line, 504·6 links; thence along the western boundary of the railway-line to point of commencement: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-two years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

Special Order making Special Rate.—Loan of £250, Pembroke Street.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and amendments, the Carterton Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and charges on a loan of £250, authorised to be raised by the Carterton Borough Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and amendments, for forming and metalling Pembroke Street, the said Carterton Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Pembroke Street Special-rating District, comprising all that piece of land being part of the Section No. 207 on the plan of the Taratahi Plain Block, within the Borough of Carterton, which is enclosed by the following lines: Commencing at a point on the south eastern boundary of Section No. 207, Taratahi Plain Block, 79 links distant from the south-western corner thereof; thence through said section by a north-westerly line, 200 links in length; thence by a south-westerly line, 79 links, to the south-western boundary of said section; thence along last-mentioned boundary to the north-western corner of the said section; thence along north-eastern boundary thereof, 459 links; thence by a line through said section parallel with the south-western boundary of said section, 1080 links; thence by a line bearing 119° 45′, 101 links; thence by a line bearing 128° 8′, 200 links; thence by a line bearing 38° 8′, 20 links; thence by a line bearing 128° 8′, 55 links; thence by a line bearing 136°, 401 links; thence by a line bearing 28° 16′, 19 links; thence by a line bearing 128° 16′, 500 links; thence by a line bearing 102° 20′, 111 links; thence by a line bearing 127° 40′, 324 links; thence by a line bearing 38° 16′, 91 links; thence by a line bearing 127° 40′, 200 links; thence along the south-western boundary of the said section to the point of commencement, 244 links: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Tapanui, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

BOROUGH OF TAPANUI.
Proposal to raise a Special Loan, upon which a Poll was taken upon the 21st Day of January, 1904.
“The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”
THE Council of the Borough of Tapanui propose to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £300 for the purpose of paying the balance of the cost of the new Town Hall, to be secured by debentures on the building of the said Hall and the revenue therefrom; such loan to have a currency of eight years, but payable by instalments of £20 for the first year and £40 yearly each succeeding year. It is not proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan, or the interest for the first year.
Eighteen ratepayers voted for the proposal; no one voted against the proposal.
I therefore declared the proposal duly carried.

BALCLUTHA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Result of Poll for Proposed Loan of £500.
I, JOHN DUNNE, Mayor of the Borough of Balclutha, hereby notify you that the number of votes recorded at the poll of the electors of the Borough of Balclutha, held under the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” on Wednesday, the 13th January, 1904, on the proposal to raise a special loan of £500, being the borough’s share of the cost of renewing the Balclutha Traffic Bridge, was as follows—The number of votes recorded for the proposal, 19; number of votes recorded against the proposal, 2; total votes recorded, 21: majority of vote for the proposal, 17—and that the said proposal was therefore carried.
