Plants declared to be Noxious Weeds within the Boroughs of Maori Hill and Foxton.—Notice No. 926.

Wellington, 20th December, 1904.
IT is hereby notified for public information that the undermentioned local governing bodies have by special order declared the plants enumerated opposite each to be noxious weeds within the meaning of “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900,” in the district under the jurisdiction of each respectively:—

Maori Hill Borough Council Bathurst burr, burdock, dock, elderberry, fennel, giant burdock, hakea, hemlock, lupin, ox-eye daisy, pennyroyal, periwinkle, ragwort, St. John’s wort, tutsan, wild turnip, and the following thistles: stemless, common plume or Scotch, woolly-headed, star, and milk.
Foxton Borough Council Broom, gorse, lupin, and ragwort.

“The Shops and Offices Act, 1904.”—Notice specifying Combined District.
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 8 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904,” I, Richard John Seddon, the Minister of Labour, do hereby specify the following combined district and respective borough and town district comprised therein as follows—that is to say,—
The Combined District of Whangarei and Kamo, comprising the Borough of Whangarei and the Town District of Kamo.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Shops in Town District of Otatau.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing signed by a majority of the owners of all the shops in the Town District of Otatau (not being one of the districts mentioned in section 3 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904”), has been forwarded to me, desiring that all shops in such town district shall be closed at 6 o’clock in the evening on four working-days of the week, at 9 o’clock in the evening on Saturdays, and at 1 o’clock in the afternoon on the statutory half-holiday: And whereas the Otatau Town Board has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops within the town district:
Now, therefore, I, Thomas Young Duncan, acting for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of the said Act, do hereby direct that from and after the 1st day of January, 1905, all shops in the Town District of Otatau shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.

Notice fixing Closing-hours of Shops in the Borough of Balclutha.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing signed by a majority of the owners of all the shops in each of the trades specified below in the Borough of Balclutha (not being one of the districts mentioned in section 3 of “The Shops and Offices Act, 1904”), has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the Borough of Balclutha shall be closed at 6 o’clock in the evening on four working-days in the week, at 9 o’clock in the evening on Saturdays, and at 1 o’clock in the afternoon of the statutory half-holiday (except on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve): And whereas the Balclutha Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each trade specified within the borough:
Now, therefore, I, William Hall-Jones, acting for and on behalf of the Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 21 of the said Act, do hereby direct that from and after the 1st day of January, 1905, all shops in the trades mentioned in the Borough of Balclutha shall be closed in accordance with such requisition.
Trades.—Watchmakers, tailors, butchers, plumbers, bootmakers, saddlers, bakers, drapers, general merchants and storekeepers, grocers, cycle-agents, nurserymen, sail and cover makers.

Notice of the Laying-off of Mangawhero-Murimotu Road, in Maraetaua Block, Wellington Land District.
NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under the authority of section 92 of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto was duly taken and laid off on the 20th June, 1903, through the lands specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said colony, by Warrant dated 6th August, 1902.

Notice of the Laying-off of Road through Section 4, Block IX., Pirongia Survey District, Kawhia County.
NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, under the authority of section 16 of “The Land Act, 1892,” that the road described in the Schedule hereto was, on the 28th day of October, 1903, duly taken and laid off through the land specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said colony, by Warrant dated 6th July, 1903.

Notice to Mariners No. 86 of 1904.

Wellington, N.Z., 21st December, 1904.
NOTICE is hereby given that a small two-masted vessel, known as “Tanner’s Ark No. 3,” was abandoned at 5.46 a.m. on the 17th instant about forty-five miles north of Godley Head, and about seven or eight miles off the land, the weather being then strong westerly with a moderate sea and clear weather.
The master of the “Falcon” reports having sighted and boarded this vessel on the 19th instant, her position then being fifteen miles off Kaikoura Peninsula, but he could give no bearings. She appears to be drifting to the N.N.E. at the rate of from fifteen to twenty miles a day.
Masters of vessels trading in the vicinity are warned to keep a look-out for this derelict.
