Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

Wellington, 25th November, 1903.
THE following notice, received from the Clerk to the Waipawa Town Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901.”

WAIPAWA TOWN BOARD.
THE Waipawa Town Board propose to extend the main sewer in Great North Road, Waverley and Mathews Streets, and to provide flushing tanks and pipes for the same, and for that purpose to apply for a loan of £300 under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” and its amendments, and to provide as security a special rate of 1/8d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the whole of the Waipawa Town District, and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, payable in one yearly payment on the 1st day of September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, and interest to be paid on the said loan at the rate of 4½ per centum per annum; and it is further proposed that the cost of raising the said loan (but not the first year’s interest) shall be paid out of such loan.
The result of poll, as follows: Public notice is hereby given that at the poll of ratepayers of the Waipawa Town Board taken on the 29th day of October, 1903, upon the above proposal, the valid votes recorded were as follows:—
For the proposal, 44; against the proposal, nil; informal, nil.
As the total number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal exceed three-fifths of valid votes recorded at the poll, I declare the above proposal carried.

RANGITAIKI DRAINAGE BOARD.
THE result of the poll of ratepayers held last Friday, the 13th instant, re loan proposals of £2,500 for the Tarawera Subdivision of the Rangitaiki Drainage District, and £500 for the Matata Subdivision of the Rangitaiki Drainage District, was as follows:—
Tarawera Subdivision: For, 2; against, nil. Carried.
Matata Subdivision: For, 3; against, 3; invalid, 2. Rejected.

REFERRING to Notices to Mariners Nos. 28, 31, 37, 46, and 47 of 1903, issued by this Department, the following notices, received from the Presidency Port Officer, Madras, are published for general information.

INDIA—EAST COAST—VIZAGAPATAM DISTRICT.
Santopilli Light—Character altered.
WITH reference to Notices to Mariners Nos. 4 and 31 of 1903, it is hereby notified that, from and after the 16th November, 1903, the character of Santopilli light will be altered from a white fixed to a group flashing white light giving two flashes every 10 seconds; it will show a group of two flashes of about ⅓ second, separated by eclipses of about 2⅔ seconds’ and followed by an eclipse of about 7⅓ seconds’ duration; also that the building on which this light will be exhibited is a cement tower situated S. 48° E. mag., distant 1,800 ft. from the present lighthouse.
The light will be 140 ft. above H.W. level, and visible in clear weather at a distance of 18 miles from all directions seawards.

INDIA—EAST COAST—VIZAGAPATAM.
Exhibition of a Light.
With reference to Notices to Mariners Nos. 7 and 32 of 1903, it is hereby notified that, from and after the 16th December, 1903, the fixed dioptric white light of the second order as specified therein will be exhibited from a masonry tower near the flagstaff at Vizagapatam.

NEW SOUTH WALES LIGHTHOUSES.
Norah Head Lighthouse.
NOTICE is hereby given that a light at Norah Head will be exhibited on or about the 15th of November next and thereafter. Approximate position: Latitude S. 33° 16′ 44″, longitude E. 151° 36′ 2″.
The light, which will be exhibited from a concrete tower painted white, 77 ft. high, will be a second-order dioptric white light, giving a flash of one-fifth of a second duration every five seconds.
The elevation of the light will be 151 ft. above sea-level, and the light will be visible at a distance of about 18½ nautical miles in clear weather.
This affects Admiralty Chart No. 1021.

South Coast—Cape Colony—Port Elizabeth—Hill Light altered.—The Government of the Cape of Good Hope has given notice that on 25th September, 1903, the white and red fixed light shown from the lighthouse near Lady Donkin’s Monument, Port Elizabeth, will be replaced by an intermittent light showing 1 eclipse every 10 seconds, thus: Light, 7 seconds; eclipse, 3 seconds. It will exhibit the following sectors, viz.: Red from the bearing S. 6° E. true (SSW. mag.) to S. 39° W. true (WSW. mag.); white from S. 39° W. true (WSW. mag.), through west, to S. 85° W. true (WNW. mag.); red from S. 85° W. true (WNW. mag.) to N. 50 W. true (NNW. mag.), and obscured elsewhere.
Approx. position: Lat. 33° 57′ 45″ S., long. 25° 37′ 30″ E.
