Award of the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers’ Decoration.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the award of the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers' Decoration to Major GEORGE JOHN WINTER, No. 4 Battalion, Wellington (East Coast) Mounted Rifle Volunteers, he having a total efficient rank and commissioned service to 28th February, 1903, of twenty-two years and twenty-four days.

Award of the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long-service Medal.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the award of the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long-service Medal to No. 35, Private ROBERT MASON, Clutha Rifle Volunteers, he having, to 30th September, 1903, a total efficient service of twenty years one month and twenty-seven days.

Regulations for the Issue of Medals to the New Zealand Permanent Force amended.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to make the following amendment to the Regulations governing the Issue of the Distinguished-conduct, Meritorious-service, and Long-service and Good-conduct Medals to the New Zealand Permanent Force, as authorised by Royal Warrant dated 31st May, 1895, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 30, dated 28th April, 1898:— Delete paragraph 7 of the Regulations governing the Issue of the Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct, and substitute the following:—
"7. Soldiers awarded the Meritorious-service Medal and the Long-service and Good-conduct Medal may in future wear both medals."

The above amendment is made in accordance with Army Order 250 of 1st November, 1902, as approved by the Secretary of State for War.

Special Order made by the Council of the County of Kiwitea.

THE following special order, made by the Kiwitea County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of “The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1901.”

Special Order.

THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in them in that behalf by “The Counties Act, 1886,” the Kiwitea County Council do hereby resolve as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £300, authorised to be raised by the Kiwitea County Council, under the provisions of “The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1901,” for the purpose of providing the additional cost of the construction of a light-traffic suspension bridge over the Rangitikei River, on the Mangarere Road, the said Kiwitea County Council do hereby make and levy a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Mangarere Bridge Special-rating District, comprising Sections 3, Block X., Hautapu Survey District; 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, Block XVI., Hautapu Survey District; 4A, Blocks X. and XIV., Hautapu Survey District; part 3, Block XIV., Hautapu Survey District; 6, 10, Block XV., Hautapu Survey District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during a period equal to the currency of such loan, being a period of forty-one years, or until the loan is fully paid off. The cost of raising the loan, and the interest for the first year, shall be paid out of the aforesaid sum of £300.

The above special order was adopted by the Kiwitea County Council at a special meeting held 19th September, 1903, and confirmed at a special meeting held 17th day of October, 1903.
