SCHEDULE.

RAKETAPAUMA IMPROVED-FARM SPECIAL SETTLEMENT.

ALL that area of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 2,753 acres 2 roods 10 perches, more or less, and being part of the Raketa pauma Block, situated in Blocks II., III., VI., and VII., Maungakaretu Survey District. Bounded towards the north by Subdivision No. 3a1; towards the east by Subdivisions Nos. 3a1 and 1b; thence towards the south, and again towards the east, by Subdivision No. 3d2; thence towards the north-east generally by the said Subdivision No. 3d2 and Subdivisions Nos. 1c, 5c2b, and 5c2a of the Raketa pauma Block; towards the south generally by the Ruanui Block and Subdivisions Nos. 5a2 and 4a2 of the Raketa pauma Block; and towards the west by the Turakina River, the Waiaruhi Road, and Subdivisions Nos. 3c2 and 3b2, and by the Turakina River.

Also all that area of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 386 acres 3 roods 36 perches, more or less, being part of the Raketa pauma Block, situated in Blocks III. and VII., Maungakaretu Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east by Subdivision No. 1g; towards the east by Subdivision No. 1f; towards the south by Subdivision No. 1e2; and towards the west by Subdivisions Nos. 1c and 1b of the Raketa pauma Block.

As the same are delineated on the plan marked S.G. 51234, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon bordered red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly; Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George; Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this ninth day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and three.

Appointing the Cost of Maintenance, &c., of Drainage Works, Manawatu Drainage District, County of Kairanga.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS under the provisions of “The Land Drainage Amendment Act, 1898” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), a Commissioner was appointed and an inquiry was duly held with a view to determining what amount should be paid by certain local authorities to the Manawatu Drainage Board for or towards the cost of managing, maintaining, repairing, improving, or reconstructing certain drains or watercourses running through or situated within the Manawatu Drainage District, and also of all drainage-works connected therewith or appertaining thereto: And whereas such Commissioner did report to the Governor, after due inquiry, his opinion as to the matters respecting which he was appointed to report: And whereas it is expedient to make provision under the said Act for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and direct as follows, that is to say,–

  1. I fix and determine that the cost of the works proposed to be undertaken by the Manawatu Drainage Board in connection with the widening, straightening, and stop-banking of the Mangaone Stream, and of the cost of any works appertaining thereto, including alterations in existing roads and bridges, and also the widening and deepening of the existing cut or channel leading to the Awapuni Lagoon, shall be provided and paid by the undermentioned local authorities in the proportion set opposite the name of such local authority, that is to say,–

Kairanga County Council—Three hundred pounds;

Palmerston North Borough Council—Seven pounds per centum of the total cost less the amount payable by the Kairanga County Council;

Manawatu Drainage Board—Ninety-three pounds per centum of the total cost less the amount payable by the Kairanga County Council.

  1. I also fix and determine that the cost of maintaining and repairing the said works shall be provided and paid by the undermentioned local authorities in the proportion set opposite the name of each local authority, that is to say,–

Palmerston North Borough Council—Seven pounds per centum of the total cost;

Manawatu Drainage Board—Ninety-three pounds per centum of the total cost.

  1. I direct that any payment hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the said Kairanga County Council and Palmerston North Borough Council shall be paid from time to time in the proportions hereinbefore fixed and determined out of the funds under the control of the said County Council and Borough Council respectively, in each case within a period of thirty days after demand in writing made by or on behalf of the Manawatu Drainage Board, and all such payments shall be made from time to time to the secretary of the said Drainage Board for and on account of such Drainage Board.

  2. I further direct that the portion of the Mangaone Stream or watercourse between the southern boundary of the Manawatu Drainage District and the Awapuni Lagoon, and also the existing cut or channel leading to the said Awapuni Lagoon, shall from and after the date of this Proclamation be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the Manawatu Drainage Board.

  3. And, lastly, I direct that the costs, charges, and expenses of and incidental to the inquiry by the Commissioner aforesaid touching and concerning the premises shall be paid and borne by the Manawatu Drainage Board, the Kairanga County Council, and the Palmerston North Borough Council in equal proportions.

Addition to Featherston Domain brought under “The Public Domains Act, 1881.”

RANFURLY, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of November, 1903.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me by the twenty-fourth section of “The Public Reserves Act, 1881,” I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby order and declare that the reserves for public recreation in the Wellington Land District described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same are hereby brought under the operation of and declared to be subject to the provisions of “The Public Domains Act, 1881”; and such domain shall hereafter be managed, administered, and dealt with in manner directed by the said Act.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood 16 perches, more or less, being part of Section No. 152, Town of Featherston. Bounded towards the north by Fitzherbert Street; towards the east by Wellington and Masterton Railway-line; and towards the south by Revans Street.

Also all that parcel of land in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 acres and 29 perches, more or less, being parts of Sections Nos. 116 and 123, Town of Featherston. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 109; towards the east by Wellington and Masterton Railway-line; towards the south by Bell Street; and towards the west by Johnston Street.

As the same are delineated on the plan deposited in the office of the Chief Surveyor, Wellington.
