MOA ROAD BOARD.

Notice is hereby given that the above Board intends, at a special meeting to be held on Wednesday, 9th September, 1903, to make the following special order:—

“ In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by ‘The Road Boards Act, 1882,’ and ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ the Moa Road Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing interest and other charges for a loan of £310, authorised to be raised by the Moa Road Board under the provisions of ‘The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,’ for the purpose of culverting and metalling the Ross Road from the Tariki Road to the Mangamawhiti Stream, the said Moa Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable valuation of all rateable property of the Ross Road Special-rating District, comprising Sections 271, 272, 273, 284, 285, Block V., Huiroa S.D.; and that the said special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of January in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-six years, at 4½ per centum per annum, or until the said loan is fully paid off. All expenses in connection with raising this loan, and the first year’s interest, to be charged to the said loan.”

Notice is hereby given that this Board, on the 29th July, 1903, made the following special order, viz.: That a special rate of ¾d. in the pound be made and levied for a period of one year ending the 29th July, 1904, over the following lands, which are hereby constituted the Rugby Road Special-rating District—Sections 41, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, part 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, part 78, 79, Block V., Huiroa Survey District; such rate to be payable in one instalment, at the Board’s Office, Inglewood, on the 15th day of September, 1903.

PAHIATUA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Proposed Loan No. 67.—Kaitawa, Pori, Mount Marchant, and Mount Butters Roads.

THE following is the result of a poll taken on Thursday, the 1st October, 1903, on a proposal to raise a loan of £1,000 under “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1901,” for metalling and formation works on above roads:—

Number of voters on special rate, 13, representing 17 votes: Number of voters who recorded their votes in favour of the proposal, 10, representing 12 votes; no votes recorded against the proposal.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

Notice of Intention to take Land in the City of Dunedin.


NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” to execute a certain public work, to wit, the formation of additions to a rifle range in the City of Dunedin, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the Public Works Office at Dunedin, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister for Public Works, Wellington.

Plants declared to be Noxious Weeds in the Tauranga County.—Notice No. 822.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Tauranga County Council has by special order declared Bathurst burr, broom, giant burdock, gorse, hakea, and ragwort to be noxious weeds within the meaning of “The Noxious Weeds Act, 1900,” in the district under its jurisdiction.

Bonus for Treatment of Auriferous Black Sand


Mines Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 14th November, 1901.

NOTICE is hereby given that a bonus of £2,000 will be paid to any person who, before the 1st January, 1904, shall invent such appliances as will successfully save gold from black sands in New Zealand.

The bonus will be paid on compliance with the following conditions:—

  1. The invention shall, in its main features, differ from all machinery and appliances at present in use for the saving of gold, whether coarse or fine.
  2. It shall be readily transportable from place to place, and shall be capable of utilising local water for all its requirements.
