Redescribing Ridings in County of Waipawa.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by a special order made by the Waipawa County Council under “The Counties Act, 1886,” and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the thirtieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and two, the County of Waipawa was divided into certain ridings, the boundaries whereof were described in the said special order: And whereas it appears that some parts of the boundaries of the said ridings are misdescribed or insufficiently described in such special order, and it is expedient to rectify the same:

Now, therefore, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the said “Counties Act, 1886,” do hereby proclaim and declare that the descriptions of the boundaries of the Ruataniwha, Takapau, Waipawa, Hampden, Dannevirke, and Mangatoro Ridings of the County of Waipawa shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

RUATANIWHA RIDING.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded towards the north generally by a right line running due east from a point on the summit of the Ruahine Range to the Waipawa River, at the south-western corner of Section No. 12, Block XIII., Wakarara Survey District; thence by a line along the middle of the Waipawa River to the Waipukurau-Waipawa Road: thence towards the south-east by the Waipukurau-Waipawa Road to the south bank of the Tukituki River: thence towards the south-west generally by the south bank of the Tukituki River to its confluence with the Makaretu River; thence by a line along the middle of the Tukituki River to its source; thence by a right line running due west to the summit of the Ruahine Range: and thence towards the west generally by the summit of the Ruahine Range to the place of commencement.

TAKAPAU RIDING.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded towards the north-east generally by the Ruataniwha Riding hereinbefore described, from the summit of the Ruahine Range to the confluence of the Tukituki River with the Makaretu River: thence towards the east generally by the Makaretu River to its confluence with the Maharaeke Stream; thence by the Maharaeke Stream to the western boundary-line of Section No. 9, Block VIII., Takapau Survey District; thence by the said Section No. 9, Block No. 83, and Section No. 1, Block XI., Takapau Survey District, to the Mangapurakau Stream: thence towards the south-west generally by a line along the middle of the Mangapurakau Stream to its confluence with the Waikopiro Stream; thence by a line along the middle of the Waikopiro Stream to its confluence with the Manawatu River; thence by a line along the middle of the Manawatu River to the Norsewood-Takapau Road; thence by that road to the junction of the old and new Norsewood-Takapau Roads; thence by a right line running due north to the middle of the Makaretu River; thence by a line along the middle of the Makaretu River to its source; thence by a line running due west to the summit of the Ruahine Range: and thence towards the west generally by the summit of the Ruahine Range to the place of commencement.

WAIPAWA RIDING.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded towards the north-east generally by a right line being the production of the northern boundary-line of Block No. 134, in Waipukurau Survey District, from the middle of the Mangaonuku River to the north-western corner of the said Block No. 134; thence by the northern boundary-line of that block to its north-eastern corner; thence by the eastern boundary-lines of Blocks Nos. 134 and 135 to the south-western corner of Block No. 179; thence by Blocks Nos. 179, 18, 23, and 49 to the Patangata County boundary; thence by the Patangata County as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 96, 22nd November, 1900: thence towards the south-east by the said Patangata County to the middle of the Waipawa River: thence towards the south-west generally by a line along the middle of the Waipawa River to its confluence with the Mangaonuku River; and thence by a line along the middle of the Mangaonuku River to the place of commencement.

HAMPDEN RIDING.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded towards the north-east generally by the Hawke’s Bay County as described in the First Schedule to “The Counties Act, 1876,” from the summit of the Ruahine Range to the Patangata County; thence towards the east by the Patangata County as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 96, 22nd November, 1900, to the Waipawa Riding hereinbefore

ERRATUM.—In New Zealand Gazette No. 72, of the 10th September, 1903, page 2024, for “Robert Matthison,” appointed Lieutenant, Irish Rifle Volunteers (Wanganui), read “Robert Mathison.”
