Munro (commanding the Parnell Public School Cadet Company) to be Adjutant; and Norman D. McKay (commanding the Grafton Public School Cadet Company) to be Quartermaster.
No. 2 Auckland Public School Cadet Battalion, with the following officers :— David W. Dunlop (commanding the Northcote Public School Cadet Company) to command the battalion ; Robert Harry Patterson (commanding the Wellesley Street Public School Cadet Company) to be Adjutant; and Herbert Glanville Cousins (commanding the Beresford Street Public School Cadet Company) to be Quartermaster.

PRELIMINARY NOTICE.—LIGHT ON KAHURANGI POINT, WEST COAST, SOUTH ISLAND.

Wellington, N.Z., 28th September, 1903.
NOTICE is hereby given that about the end of November, 1903, a light will be exhibited from a lighthouse now being erected on Kahurangi Point, West Coast, South Island, in lat. 40°46'3" S. and long. 172°13'7" E., as measured from the Admiralty Chart.
The light will be about 110ft. above the level of the sea at high water, and will be a dioptric fixed white light of the second order, visible to seaward over an arc of 212 degrees of the horizon for a distance of about 16½ miles from the deck of a vessel 15ft. above the sea, with a red sector of 20 degrees so adjusted as to show over the Stewart breaker,
