PART IX.—GENERAL PROVISIONS AND SCHEDULES FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF THESE BY-LAWS.

  1. The matter of ascertaining the weight of the loading or contents of any vehicle shall be by actual measurement of the weight upon a properly constructed weighbridge, or by computing the weight or measurement from the quantity or the superficial or cubical measurement of such loading or contents, and for this purpose the quantities set out hereunder shall so far as the materials or articles mentioned respectively represent one ton avoirdupois:—

New Zealand timber .. 500 super. ft.
Australian timber .. 250 "
Firewood .. .. ⅔ cord, or 85⅓ cubic ft.
Gravel .. .. 20 cubic ft.
Sand .. .. 21 "
Clay .. .. 19 "
Broken stone .. .. 21 "
Cement .. .. 5 barrels.
Lime .. .. 38 cubic ft.
Bricks .. .. 320
Coal .. .. 45 cubic ft.
Chaff .. .. 25 bags (4-bushel).
Oats .. .. 14 " "
Wheat .. .. 12 " "
Barley .. .. 13 " "
Wool .. .. 5 bales
Iron or steel .. .. 4½ cubic ft.

  1. Any officer of the Council, and any officer or constable of police, may stop and detain any vehicle or engine until the width of the tires and the weight of the vehicle or engine, together with the weight or measurement of the loading or contents thereof, can be ascertained.

  2. The driver of any engine or vehicle shall, on being so required by any person authorised to demand the same, thereupon stop the said vehicle or engine, and shall give true and correct information as to contents, quantity, weight, size, or measurement of the vehicle or engine, and the loading thereof; and shall do all acts for the purpose of enabling the same to be ascertained as such authorised person directs.

  3. Every person who shall do or cause to be done or be concerned in doing anything contrary to any provision of these by-laws, or who shall omit to do anything required to be done by him by any such provision, shall be guilty of an offence against these by-laws, and shall for every offence be liable to a penalty not exceeding five pounds sterling, and where the offence is a continued one, then to a penalty not exceeding five pounds sterling for every day or part of a day during which such offence shall continue.

  4. These by-laws shall come into force on the 1st day of July, 1903.

The foregoing by-laws were adopted at a special meeting of the Waimea County Council held on the 4th day of March, 1903, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting held on the 7th day of May, 1903.

TAKE notice that the names of the above-mentioned companies will, at the expiration of three months from the date hereof, unless cause is shown to the contrary, be struck off the Register, and the companies will be dissolved.

THE ROSLYN TRAMWAY COMPANY (LIMITED).

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 202 of “The Companies Act, 1882,” that a General Meeting of the members of the above-named company will be held at the Board Room, Agricultural Hall Buildings, Crawford Street, Dunedin, on Friday, the 27th day of November, 1903, at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, for the purpose of having an account laid before them showing the manner in which the winding-up has been conducted and the property of the company disposed of, and of hearing any explanation that may be given by the Liquidators, and also of determining by extraordinary resolution the manner in which the books, accounts, and documents of the company and of the Liquidators shall be disposed of.

NOTICE OF DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership hitherto subsisting between ALEXANDER THOMSON, of Dunedin, and ALFRED MAURICE LEWIS, of Wellington, as Aerated-water and Cordial Manufacturers, under the style of “Thomson, Lewis, and Co.,” has been dissolved as from the 1st July, 1903, by mutual consent. The said business will for the future be carried on under the style of “Thomson, Lewis, and Co.,” by ALFRED MAURICE LEWIS, who will receive all moneys owing to and discharge all liabilities of the said firm.
