NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders will be received at this office up to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, the 27th day of October, 1903, for leases of the under-mentioned lands, for a term of twenty-one years, with right of renewal for a further term of twenty-one years.

Section 28, Block III., Potaka Township, is situated on the main trunk railway-line and road. The access is from Utiku Post-office, which is about a quarter of a mile distant by a good metalled coach-road. The section comprises all flat land in grass. The soil is of good quality, resting on papa formation. The section is all felled and in grass. The elevation is about 1,250 ft. above sea-level.

Section 32, Block III., Potaka Township: The access is from Utiku Post-office, which is about a quarter of a mile distant by a good metalled coach-road to within a couple of chains of the section. The section comprises about an acre of flat land; the rest is fairly easy sloping ground. The soil is of good quality, resting on papa formation. The section is all felled and in grass, and is watered by a small stream at the back. The elevation ranges from about 1,250 ft. to 1,350 ft. above sea-level.

Section 13, Block IV., Potaka Township, is situated on the main trunk railway and road. The access is from Utiku Post-office, which is about 10 chains distant by an unformed road. The section comprises all flat land. The soil is of good quality, resting on papa formation. The section is all felled and grassed. The elevation is about 1,250 ft. above sea-level.

Sections 32 and 33, Block III., Parata Township, are situated on the railway-line and main road between Wellington and Otaki. The access is from Waikanae Railway-station and Township, which adjoins the Parata Native Township. The sections comprise flat grass land, and have frontages to road and railway-line. The soil is of first-class quality, resting on shingle formation.

Section 8, Block IV., Pipiriki Township, is situated on the Paparoa Road, which has not been formed. The access is from Pipiriki, which is about one-third of a mile distant by Native track. The section comprises all rough land, cut up by gorgy creeks. The soil is good, resting on papa formation. The forest is fairly light, comprising tawa, rewarewa, tawhero, rimu, &c., with a thick undergrowth of the usual kind. The section is watered by streams. The elevation ranges from about 500 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level.

Section 14, Block IV., Pipiriki Township, is situated on the Akapuka Road, which is not yet formed. The access is from Pipiriki, which is about half a mile distant by a Native track. The section comprises about 2 acres of flat land, the rest is broken; the soil is of good quality, resting on papa formation, the forest is light, comprising tawa, rata, rewarewa, &c., with thick undergrowth of the usual kind; about 2 acres fern land. The section is watered by small streams. Improvements consist of 4 chains of fencing, valued at £1 8s. The elevation ranges from about 600 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level.

Section 18, Block IV., Pipiriki Township, on the left bank of Wanganui River: The access is from Wanganui, which is about fifty-six miles distant by tri-weekly steamer service during the summer months, and bi-weekly service during winter months. The access to this section is by an old Maori track, there being no formed road to it. The section comprises about an acre of easy sloping ground; the rest is more or less steep and broken. The soil is of good quality, resting on papa formation. The forest is light, comprising chiefly scrub; about 3 acres are open fern land. The elevation ranges from about 300 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level.

Section 20, Block IV., Pipiriki Township: Same description as Section 18, except that there are 2 acres of open fern land. The section is watered by a small stream. The elevation ranges from 150 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level.

Section 21, Block IV., Pipiriki Township: Same description as Section 18, except that there are about 4 or 5 acres of easy undulating land, and about 4 or 5 acres open fern land. Elevation, 150 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level.

Sections 16 and 38, Block I., Tokaanu Township, are situated on the right bank of the Tokaanu River. The access is from Matairiki Street, which has not been formed, but is all level, and in grass, and vehicles can be taken right on to the section. The sections comprise all flat land in good grass and clover. The soil is of good quality, though light, resting on pumice. There is no water except the Tokaanu River, which is separated from the land by a chain reserve on the bank. The improvements on Section 16 consist of a four-roomed house, out of repair, £25; coachhouse, £5; potaka, £20; stable, £6; fencing, £6 15s.: total amount, £62 15s. The improvements on Section 38, Block I., Tokaanu, comprise 5½ chains fencing, valued at £4 19s.

Section 30, Block IV., Tokaanu Township, fronts on the main road to the wharf. The section is all flat land in grass. The soil is fairly good quality, though light, resting on pumice.

IT is hereby notified, in pursuance of section 240 of “The Land Act, 1892,” that the undermentioned Crown land will be offered to the holder of adjoining land, under section 117 of “The Land Act, 1892,” on and after Wednesday, the 7th day of October, 1903.
