be cancelled, in pursuance of paragraph 64, Volunteer Regulations, as from 6th July, 1903, he having left the colony without permission.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve, under clause 50, “The Defence Act, 1886,” of the dismissal of

No. 420, Private ROBERT HOGG, E Company, 1st Otago Rifle Battalion (Dunedin Highland Rifle Volunteers),

from the New Zealand Volunteer Force, for refusal to pay certain fines inflicted by his commanding officer for non-attendance at parades, under powers of “The Defence Act, 1886,” and Volunteer Regulations. Dismissal to date from 19th August, 1903.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of No. 2 Company, Garrison Artillery Volunteers (Dunedin Naval Artillery Volunteers), at present on the lower establishment—viz., 1 captain, 3 lieutenants, 1 company sergeant-major, 1 company quartermaster-sergeant, 4 sergeants, 4 corporals, 2 trumpeters, 88 gunners; total all ranks, 104—to be raised to the higher establishment—viz., 1 captain, 5 lieutenants, 1 company sergeant-major, 1 company quartermaster-sergeant, 8 sergeants, 8 corporals, 6 bombardiers, 2 trumpeters, 175 gunners; total all ranks, 207.
