Notice as to Day for closing under “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894.”

NOTICE is hereby given that, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” and of all other powers and authorities me hereto enabling, and in terms of notice in writing duly received by me from the Chairman of the Conference of Delegates of all the local authorities comprised in the district constituted for the purposes of that Act by the Boroughs of the City of Christchurch, St. Albans, Sydenham, Linwood, Woolston, Sumner, New Brighton, and Lyttelton (being all the boroughs or town districts any part of any one of which is situate within a mile of any part of another), I, Richard John Seddon, Minister of Labour, hereby appoint Thursday to be the day on which all shops in the said district shall be closed as provided by that Act.

WHEREAS the local authorities respectively mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto have duly notified to me that the days upon which the shops in their respective districts shall be closed, pursuant to the provisions of “The Shops and Shop-assistants Act, 1894,” are the days set opposite their respective names in the second column of the said Schedule:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by the said Act, I, Richard John Seddon, Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint that the said respective days shall be the days upon which all shops in the said respective districts shall be closed.

Notifying Reserves in the Township of Te Puia.

Wellington, 22nd January, 1903.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the undermentioned lands, having been shown upon the deposited plan of the Native Township of Te Puia as reserves for the purposes specified at the end of each of the descriptions in the Schedule hereto, are vested in His Majesty in pursuance of subsection (2) of section 12 of “The Native Townships Act, 1895,” and will be dealt with as reserves under “The Public Reserves Act, 1881.”

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less, being Section No. 10, Block II., Te Puia Native Township. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 8, towards the east by the Tokomaru–Waipiro Main Road, towards the south by Section No. 12, and towards the west by Sections Nos. 9 and 11. For a mechanics’ institute.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less, being Section No. 12, Block II., Te Puia Native Township. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 10, towards the east by the Tokomaru–Waipiro Main Road, towards the south by Section No. 118 (Hot Springs Reserve), and towards the west by Section No. 11. For a public library.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 roods, more or less, being Sections Nos. 3 and 4, Block III., Te Puia Native Township. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 2, towards the east by Hall Street, towards the south by Section No. 5, and towards the west by the Tokomaru–Waipiro Main Road. For a postal reserve.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 5 acres, more or less, being Section No. 55, Suburbs of Te Puia Native Township. Bounded towards the north by Barron Street, towards the east by Sections No. 56, 57, 58, 59, and 60, towards the south by McKenzie Street, and towards the west by Section No. 54. For a school reserve.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 13 acres 2 roods 26 perches, more or less, being Section No. 88, Suburbs of Te Puia Native Township. Bounded towards the north by McKenzie Street, towards the east by Sections Nos. 89 and 118, towards the south by Carroll Street, and towards the west by Section No. 133. For a hot-springs reserve.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 13 acres 3 roods 21 perches, more or less, being Section No. 118, Suburbs of Te Puia Native Township. Bounded towards the north by Sections Nos. 89, 90, 91 (suburban), and 11 and 12 of Block II., and by Ward Street; towards the east by the Tokomaru–Waipiro Main Road; towards the south by Sections Nos. 119, 120, and 121; and towards the west by O’Rorke Street and Section No. 88: excluding from the above-described areas Gordon Street and part of Carroll Street. For a hot-springs reserve.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 2 roods 35 perches, more or less, being Section No. 121, Suburbs of Te Puia Native Township. Bounded towards the north by portion of Section No. 118, towards the east by the Tokomaru–Waipiro Main Road and by Sections Nos. 122 and 123, towards the south by Section No. 134, and towards the west by Section No. 120. For a police reserve.

All that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 4 acres, more or less, being Section No. 136, Suburbs of Te Puia Native Township. Bounded towards the north by Sections Nos. 130 and 131, and towards the east, south, and west by Section No. 135 and a public road. For a cemetery reserve.

As the same are delineated on the plan marked S.G. 44217, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue.

By-laws regulating Traffic on Taumaranui–Ohakune, Stratford–Ongarue, Te Kuiti–Awakino, Alexandra–Kawhia, and Kawhia–Aotea Roads.

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred by section 130 of “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and its amendments, I, Thomas Young Duncan, Minister of Lands, do, in respect of the Government road from Taumaranui to Ohakune (from Poro o-tarao Tunnel to Taumaranui), the Government road from Stratford to Ongarue (from Te Kawakawa to Mangaroa), the Government road from Te Kuiti to Awakino (from Mokau Heads to Mahoenui), the Government road from Alexandra to Kawhia (from the Waipa Bridge at Whatiwhatihoe to Powewe, at Kawhia), and the Government road from Kawhia to Aotea (from Powewe, at Kawhia, to Matahahaea, at the boundary of the Kawhia and Raglan Counties), as the said roads are shown on the plan marked R. 3989, deposited in the office of the Chief Engineer of Roads, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red, do hereby make the following by-laws:—

  1. For buggy and coach traffic, carrying persons or passengers only:
