APPLICATION FOR LICENSE FOR AN EXTENSION OF A WATER-RACE.
To the Warden of the Otago Mining District, at Lawrence.
PURSUANT to “The Mining Act, 1898,” the undersigned, John Charles Short, of Dunedin, Gentleman; George Maroni Grigg, of Dunedin, Importer; William Adams, of Dunedin, Miner; and Alexander Sutherland and John Donaldson, both of Waitahuna, Miners, hereby apply for a license for an extension of a water-race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.
Dates and numbers of miners’ rights: 13th August, 1903, No. 38825; 20th November, 1902, No. 35474; 3rd December, 1902, No. 35488; 13th August, 1903, No. 38826; 18th September, 1902, No. 33385.

Locality of the extension of race, and of its starting and terminal points: Commencing at the tunnel near the present termination, in Section 30, Block VI., Tuapeka East District, of water-race held under license No. 1011; thence running through Sections 30, 19, and 25 of said Block VI., being the freehold lands of William Murray, of Waitahuna, Farmer, and Sections 38, 8, and 27 of said Block VI., being freehold lands of John Sutherland, of Waitahuna, Farmer; thence through Crown lands and through Sections 21 and 7, Block X., Waitahuna East District, being freehold lands of the said John Sutherland; thence through Crown lands, and terminating near the south-east corner of Section 37, Block X., Waitahuna East District.
Length and intended course of extension: About five miles; south-westerly.
Point of intake: The commencing-point.
Estimated time and cost of construction: Six months; £500.
Mean depth and breadth: 1 ft. 8 in. by 3 ft. 6 in.
Number of heads to be diverted: 15.
Purpose for which water is to be used: Mining purposes.
Proposed term of license: Forty-two years.
