SCHEDULE.
In the regulations for the Junior Examination,—
Clause 5, “Scope of Examination,” is amended by revoking the definition of “shorthand,” and substituting the following definition in lieu thereof :—
“Writing eighty words a minute, and transcribing accurately into longhand. Candidates should be able to explain the principles of the system they use.”
In the regulations for the Senior Examination,—
Clause 10 is amended by striking out the word “first,” after the words “and in mathematics the,” and inserting the word “third” in lieu thereof.
Clause 11, (c), Group II., (30), “Shorthand,” is amended by striking out the whole definition, and substituting the following definition in lieu thereof :—
“Writing one hundred and thirty words a minute, and transcribing accurately into longhand. Candidates should be able to explain the principles of the system they use.”

Land taken for a Native School at Mangaorongo.

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirty-first day of August, 1903.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is required for a certain public work, to wit, a Native school :
And whereas it has been made a condition of the establishment of the said Native school that the site required therefor shall be a free gift from the Native owners to His Majesty the King, and the Native owners have agreed to such condition, and it has been made to appear that such agreement is sufficient for the purposes intended to be effected thereby :
And whereas by an order of the Native Appellate Court, bearing date the seventh day of September, one thousand nine hundred, certain aboriginal natives, as in the said order mentioned, were declared to be the owners of the Rangitoto A Block, within which the said land is situated :
And whereas, as required by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” a map has been prepared showing accurately the position and extent of the said land, and such map is hereto attached :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by “The Public Works Act, 1894,” and “The Public Works Acts Amendment Act, 1900,” and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby order and declare that the land shown upon the said map and described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of the said Native school, and shall vest in His Majesty the King, as from the thirtieth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and three.

Miners’ Rights no longer issued at Waihi Post-office.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by “The Mining Act, 1898,” and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the post-office at
WAIHI, Thames,
shall no longer be a post-office at which miners’ rights may be issued.
As witness my hand, this twenty-seventh day of August, one thousand nine hundred and three.
